BACKTON'S KEEP

Jamie stands in front of the high table. Alden, Elizabeth, Hanir, Daenerys, Sansa, Rohar, Elijah, and Klaus sitting along the table. Jorah G and Jorah M standing behind the King.

Alden: When I was a child, my brother would tell me a story......about the time he murdered the Mad King, my half brother and Daenerys's father

There a mutters of shock echoing thoughout the room.

Alden: He stabbed him in the back but you took credit for it. You sat down on the Iron Throne afterward.

Davos, Karron, Cassandra, Kari, Yohn, and Brienne are sitting around the hall.

Alden: Your sister pledged her army to the North. I don't see one

Jamie: She did

Alden: I see one man with one hand. It appears she lied to us.

Jamie: She lied to me as well, Your Grace. She never had any intention of sending her army north. She has Euron Greyjoy's fleet and 20,000 fresh troops. The Golden Company from Essos, bought and paid for. Even if we defeat the dead, she'll have more than enough to destroy the survivors.

Hanir: We?

Klaus: What this about "We"?

Jamie: I promised to fight for the living.

Tyrion steps forward towards the high table

Tyrion: Your Grace, I know my brother----

Rohar: Like you knew you sister?

Tyrion: He came here alone, knowing full well how he'd be received. Why would he do that if he weren't telling the truth?

Sansa: You're right. We can't trust him. He tried to destroy my house and my family, the same as he did yours.

Jaime: Do you want me to apologize? I won't. We were at war. Everything I did, I did for my house and my family. I'd do it all again.

Bran: The things we do for love.

Everyone slowly turns to look at Bran.

Elijah: So why have you abandoned your house and family now?

Jaime: Because this goes beyond loyalty.

He looks around to see Brienne, then turns back.

Jaime: This is about survival.

Brienne stands up

Brienne: You know me well, Your Grace.

She walks to the middle of the hall and stands beside Jamie.

Brienne: I know Ser Jamie. He is a man of honor. I was his captor once. But when we were both taken prisoner and the men holding us tried to force themselves on me, Ser Jamie defended me. And lost his hand because of it. Without him, Lady Sansa would not be alive.

Alden sinks back into his chair, rubbing his chin in thought. He looks at Hanir then to his brother who both nods their heads. Klaus and Elijah nods

Hanir: You vouch for him, Brienne?

Brienne: I do, my lord

Elizabeth: You would fight beside him?

Brienne: I will.

Alden: Every single man and woman in this room trust you with their lives, Brienne of Tarth. If you trust him, we let him stay

Hanir: What does the Queen in the North say about it?
