The only response you could manage was a struggled sob. He gently took you by the hands and pulled you up, holding the bright red umbrella over your head.
"Who are you..? Do you know me..?", you croaked out. He looked familiar, but when you racked your brain for a name that matched his face nothing came. "You don't recognize me?", he blinked in surprise. "Am- am I supposed to? Do we know each other?"
He was silent for a moment, then a small sly grin formed on his face. Of course, you didn't know that. You have no memories, how can you know what deception looks like? "No. No we don't know each other, I believe you're mistaken. But I can't just leave a poor soul alone out in the rain. Would you like to stay with me for the night?"
You thought about it for a minute. You did not know this man. He could be dangerous. You had a very, very, vague idea of where you were and how you ended up here. You were vulnerable. But what if something else harmed you before he ever could? Out in the rain, barely able to see anything, soaking wet and shivering. You don't know what else is out here with you in the dark.
"I- I'm not sure..."
His hand tightened around yours, "Please, I would hate for you to get a cold out in this weather."
You weren't sure what other options you had. "...okay."
His smile widened, "Wonderful. I promise you'll enjoy your stay." He lead you down the sidewalk, hand in hand. Your mind felt so hazy. You wondered if this was the correct choice to make.
—— I'm sorry this is so short! I just wanted at least SOMETHING to be posted, it'd better than nothing.
