This is not part of the series, just a small snippet of what they may have thought of each other at their first meeting, sort of. You can skip it if you like. :)

I slowly make my way through the aisles of the convenient store picking up some snacks and a drink or two. I didn't really know my intended recipient's tastes so it was taking longer than I thought to pick out what he, and maybe his brother, might want. I sigh inwardly as I turn a corner to go down another aisle. As I do my eyes drift over to the magazine racks against the window.

I do this habitually without much thought. It was a quirk I picked up from my years of serving Khun Tankun. He always liked doing these personality quizzes in the magazines like: what element are you? What's your ideal pet? What is your power color? ect. If we weren't watching a series, sometimes Khun Tankun would do these quizzes and then make us follow their advice for the entire day. So over time whenever I was at a convenience store I got in the habit of scanning the magazine racks for any interesting looking quizzes.

There was one that jumped out at me immediately and I found myself reaching down for the brightly covered magazine, with a striking looking woman on the cover, almost without having made a conscious decision to.

I shift the plastic handle of the basket I'm holding into the crook of my elbow and thumb through the pages till I find the right section. What term best defines your current relationship? Are you sweethearts? A power couple? Best friend lovers? Take this quiz and find out!

Yeah, I think to myself as I scan over the cute terms, I don't think we would fit into any of those. My mouth quirks at the side a little helplessly, and I nearly sit the magazine back down on the rack, but just before I do my curious eyes drift down to the first question on the list.

What was your first impression of your current partner?

My first impression? I stand there stiffly as my eyes pull away from the page, and I think back on the first time I saw the eldest son of the minor family.

It would have had to have been one of the near mandatory family meetings at the main house, but how many years ago I'm not sure. I screw my eyes shut for a second trying to jog my lax memory. The family meetings happen only a few times a year and only the best of the best of the bodyguards get to stand in the room when the whole family gathers together, so it wouldn't have been when I first went there.

I open my eyes and then shake my head. This was stupid I don't even know why I'm trying to figure this-. I freeze mid-closing the magazine, as an image pops into my head as if it had been there all along and it just needed me to give up before it would let me remember it.

I had been curious about him, that much I remember clearly now. And that curiosity stemmed from the fact that the moment Khun Tankun had heard Vegas would be attending he adamantly refused to come. Even when we'd tried to drag him off the couch he'd clung onto it like a boa constrictor and wouldn't budge.

I'd just been newly assigned to Khun Tankun's personal bodyguard posse and it had been an interesting and chaotic couple of weeks. Still when he refused to move we had no choice but to go down to the meeting room and inform the head bodyguard that we'd failed to bring Khun Tankun with us. I had thought we'd be destined for a round of punishments but in the end the head guard had simply looked annoyed and then gestured for us to go inside the room while he went to inform Khun Korn.

I remember not knowing where to put my eyes exactly as I stood at attention in the back wings of the room. Then the door had opened and Khun Kan walked in, and not too far behind him his eldest son sauntered in.

Sauntered, I don't think there's a better way to describe how Khun Vegas walks. I'm not sure if he's just inherently that graceful or if it was something he practiced. All I do know is that when I first saw him that was one of the things I noticed. That and the way his eyes shifted about the room as if he was doing a meticulous calculation. Except when they saw Khun Kinn, at that moment his cold gaze flared into loathing on the spot. There was also the way he sat, ankle on his knee, back against the chair, arm resting on his crooked leg. So different from his cousin Kinn who was sitting with strict impeccable posture. And lastly there was the way he smiled at Kinn. Now I've seen some horrifying expressions, but never had I seen a smile so cruel and yet so charming at the same time. It was unsettling, so very unsettling.
