Once safely in my room, Gregory set me down on my bed, his crimson irises glimmering with what seemed like tears. But Gregory wasn't sensitive like that, was he?
I was wrong. One clear tear rolled down his pale cheek as he threw his arms around me in a bone-crushing hug. I felt his shoulders shake with sobs.
I awkwardly patted his back, trying to regain my breath. "Greg...can't...breathe!" I gasped.
The pressure lifted from my chest immediately. I looked up into Greg's eyes, touching his cheek gently. "I didn't die."
"You were too close to that," he murmured, closing his eyes and gritting his teeth together.
"But I'm not bleeding."
"Elizabeth, your cheek is redder than the other one. You were hurt. Griffin is a lethal vampire. He's known in almost all of the vampire clans. He's the most dangerous vampire in Scotland."
I stuck out my bottom lip and stared at the carpet. "But I wasn't hurt badly."
"But you could have been." Gregory tilted my chin up.
"I don't see why you're making such a big deal about this."
"Elizabeth. You were kidnapped, brutally slapped, and almost bitten by a vampire, plus, you watched me harm someone." Gregory's tone was stunned disbelief.
"It's not like I think you're a monster or anything," I protested, grabbing his shaking head and holding it still.
His eyes widened. "Are you serious?"
I nodded. "You don't scare me. Trust me. I love you more than anything, Gregory. You know that."
I moved his cold hand to my beating heart. "Whenever I'm around you, my breathing becomes uneven and my heart kicks up a notch. And I feel like I've just landed on Mars."
Gregory licked his lips, staring into my eyes. "Elizabeth, if you knew how much I loved you-"
I clutched his hand closer. "Then show me, Gregory. Show me."
He swallowed, pushing me closer. He slowly leaned towards me, his eyes full of anxiety. He pressed his lips softly to mine.
An electric shock went through my body by that touch and I knew, forever and always, Gregory Sackville-Bagg, would be my vampire boy, and he would love me until eternity changed course.
And I would love him back.
