Puppeteer (TMNT AU)

Part 2 chapter 3: Killers and peacekeepers

Location: sewers

Time: midnight

People: Splinter and his children, Shredder, Kitsune, Spyral (an OC, she's the one that brought Leo to Shredder), Tiger claw & Hob leading the mutanimals, and Ling-Ping (other OC, the Japanese guy from chapter 1: 'Yume').

"Stand back!" Raph warned, pointing his sai at Hob. "And why would I do that?" He asked, "your father never paid the mutanimals for what they did for him during the war. Now I'm here to kill him." He smirked, what a big ego for such a scrawny cat.

The rest of his siblings, minus Karai and Leo, stood beside him, each pointing their weapons at one of the mutanimals. They were heavily outnumbered.

Ling-Ping, brought as a peacekeeper, sat nearby. 'Way to fulfill your duty' Raph thought.

"Listen, Hob, Tiger claw. I get it, as leaders of the mutanimals, you wish for justice, but I'm telling you, I want the honor of killing that traitor." He said, pointing his sai at Splinter, who sat in a corner, fearful eyes staring at his sons, pleading for them not to do this.

"And why is that?" Tiger claw snarled. "Because, he drove two of our siblings away!" Raph said, still pointing his sai accusingly at the rat.

"I thought there were a few missing..." Hob muttered.

"So, I can kill him, no more arguing?" Raph asked, ensuring that there was peace.

Hob and Tiger claw nodded. Raph smiled, and walked over to his father.

"Now, if nobody has any complaints..." he said, looking at the mutants behind him.

"No? What a shame." He turned back to his father, and he was about to strike-

"Wait!" Two dark figures emerged into the crowd.

"Who dares?" Raph retorted, unhappy at being stopped.

"Leonardo..." the figure panted, and both of them shifted.

"Karai? Kitsune?!" Mikey gasped, dropping his chucks. (I know it's nunchaku, but honestly that's too long)

"As I was saying," Kitsune continued.

"Leonardo was injured a few days ago on patrol. We lost all communication with him. We went back to the warehouse he disappeared in, but he was gone."

Everyone's jaws dropped. "W-what?" Raph said quietly.

"Wait!" Another, bubbly and hurried voice said, and everyone moved aside, revealing three figures. One was like foil, another was a shadowy glob, and the third was a young girl, with popping orange hair, tied into a ponytail that went to the side, a white leather jacket with pink, green and purple spirals, a purple skirt, green tights, and a blue shirt. She had glowing earrings, her necklace and bracelets were glow sticks.

"Who are you?" Raph demanded, sitting up, but motioning for Jenny to guard Splinter.

"I'm Spyral, but you can call me Pyra, (pie-rah)" the young girl said. "I'm Shredder." The foil like one said. They would discuss that later.

"You all used to know me, but for a time, I forgot everything, who I was, who you were. These people helped me to remember who I truly am, but if the person I am is to be returned, then a sacrifice must be made. Yes, you are willing to make it, but there is only one person who can break this curse." The shadow figure turned to Shredder.

"Shredder must kill our father." Leo turned back into his turtle form, like Karai and Kitsune had.

Everyone sat in silence as Shredder approached Splinter.

"Brother, enemy, friend, family, mutant, you are many things to me, but you will always be my brother, even if you broke our sacred truce, even if we've been at war, I love you." Splinter nodded.

"I understand that this will be hard, but when it is over, we will both be gone, and perhaps we'll even see each other." Shredder continued.

"Under the cherry tree?" Splinter asked. Shredder nodded, "under the cherry tree."

The rat was sliced so quickly and smoothly, that you might never have noticed. But as the dawn light protruded from the sewer exit leading to a forest and mountains, the bodies faded into dust, leaving no trace of their existence.

The shadows that had been cast over the oldest were no more, and their bodies were freed from the evil that they'd endured for over seven months.

They turned to look for Kitsune, but she was gone.

"Leo!" Mikey exclaimed happily, running up to his brother.

"Mikey!" Leo said happily, crouching down so that he could engulf his brother in a hug. Tears streamed down their faces, not tears of sorrow, tears of joy. The rest of their siblings joined in the hug.

"Farewell, mutants," Kitsune said by the opening, the light of dawn pouring on her face as she slid on her mask and ran into the forest, her orange tail flowing behind her.

The mutanimals watched happily from a distance, knowing that peace had been restored.

Together, they were going to build a better future. All it takes is a little love.
