Finally, her sister stopped her frantic crying, seeming to either run out of energy or whatever had caused her uproar. Finally feeling her face, she let out a small sound. What should have felt painful was tender. The cuts and claw marks had closed up.

She ran to the nearest mirror, staring at her reflection. Even though her face was bloodied, no sign of her injuries could be seen. Looking at her thighs, she found that they, too, had healed over the hour she had rested.

"What's going on?" Looking at the sink, she saw her father's razer. Grabbing it, she took a deep breath. "Only one way to test, I guess." Quickly stabbing it into her hand, she dragged the blade through her skin.

The cut started to bleed but disappeared before her eyes. Still carrying the blade, she moved to the bathroom, opening the door, finding the monster on the ground. "Hey Kimmy, I need to test something." She heard her make a small noise, so she crouched next to her, grabbing her grey arm.

"Take a deep breath." She quickly cut into her sister arm, holding onto her as she scratched and clawed, trying to get away. As she expected, the cut healed as though it was never there.

"No." She collapsed on the floor. Once again, she had failed to care for her sister. Who knows what monster she will become if she turns to. "What happened Kim-ra, when did you turn?" Thinking about the events from earlier in the day, she remembered the nose bleed.

"I have until my nose starts to bleed, huh? I reckon I can have a little rest, quiet down now Kimmy, I'll stay here."

She lay on the cold floor, not bothering to get blankets. Who knew how much time she had left?

She woke up with a start to see her sister shaking her. "Hungry!" Getting up quickly, to prevent a tantrum, she moved to the kitchen. Looking through all the cupboards, she saw that they were seriously running out of food.

"Sorry Kimmy, this is the best you can get." She grabbed a bruised banana from the bottom of her fridge and started to cut it up. She gladly saw only some if the inside was bruised, of which she left for herself.

"Here, sweetie." She placed the bowl down before looking at herself in the mirror. No nose bleed, at least for now.

She grabbed a piece of paper from her desk before starting to make a list. She thought back to her last phone call with her mum, when her dad had a fever.

"He must have turned." She whispered, writing on the paper a list of symptoms before turning.

-Fever
-Healing
-Nose bleeds
-Change appearance

She crossed off healing and laughing to herself. She had made a bucket list that she would complete when she turned. Turning the page over, she listed the food items that she could find.

"A stale cracker, water, dry noodles, and half a slice of cake. What a meal for growing monsters. We can last for two days. Hopefully, I don't turn until then."

Walking to the window, she saw just how destroyed her world was. Crashed cars sat in streets, buildings were on fire and crumbling, and most importantly, hundreds of monsters roamed the grounds.

"If this many are outside, there must be loads in Greenhome. Especially if anyone turns, even if they don't have contact with the actual monsters."

She grimaced to herself. Eventually, she would have to leave the room if she wanted to keep Kim-ra alive. Tasting blood in her mouth, she sighed.

"Another tick on my bucket list."
