Jim looked at you as he took a seat on the couch next to you, handing you a mug full of steaming tea. It smelled amazing, you'd give him that.
"So you're an alien-"
"Akiridion" You corrected.
"Akiridion, that's... new" Jim corrected himself. You still gave him a sideways glance regardless. His reaction was the only thing that was new.
He sees the look you give him and immediately changes his response "in a good way, I'm used to dealing with trolls." The boy sets his own cup down on the table.
You hum in agreement, taking a sip of your tea. The smell hits your nose before you downed it all in one sitting. Jim looks at you in shock, blue eyes wide when you set the glass down next to his.
"What?"
"My best friend is an Alie- Akiri- Extraterrestrial." He corrected himself twice before flinging himself off of the couch, yelling in an excited manner, and throwing his hands in the air in celebration.
"I thought Toby was your best friend." You asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I can have two best friends" Jim's hands stayed in the air but he un-balled his fist. You can tell your comment helped the excitement wear off a bit.
You shake your head "No, no you can't."
Jim's hands dropped to his side. "I can't?" He asked before saying more confidently, raising a finger at you. "I can't, so Toby is my best friend."
"Ouch" He looks at you incredulously, raising both eyebrows. You had said that as if you weren't the one who said he couldn't have two best friends.
"Can you two keep it down?" Jim's Mother's voice rang from upstairs, startling the two teens. Especially Jim who had thought she wouldn't hear them.
"Sorry mom."
"Sorry Barbra" You spoke at the same time. You guys turned towards one another, both wearing blank expressions before bursting into quiet laughter.
The chuckles died down rather quickly. You looked around his house, finally taking it in. It was very cozy, to say the least but it was also big and roomy.
Your eyes met Jim's in the subtle darkness. "I hear that you can cook. Maybe you could-" Your voice trailed off, the notion that you can't cook has you silencing yourself in embarrassment.
"Teach you?" The brown haired boy grabbed your hand gently, pulling you from the couch "come on, I have to pack lunches anyways, you can help."
Jim dragged you to the kitchen. He was not a good leader at all. You had run into the side of the table and he gave you no time to recover, still pulling you along. You hit your toe to the table leg then to the wall.
Shoes stay on next time. You made a mental note to yourself when Jim let go of your hand. The pain was still slightly felt but you ignored it as a pack of ground beef was thrown at you.
You yelped and held your hand out to grab it. The meat was cold and it slipped from your grasp almost immediately. It bounced from your hand and you cringed in anticipation for the loud noise that might follow.
Instead, the pack of meat lands perfectly on a piece of bulky metal. Jim picks up the Ground beef and the amulet he hastily slid on the floor. He blows on the glowing blue surface. Whatever dust was on there was gone now.
"Nice reflexes" You comment. He just saved you from a very stern talking to from his mother. You shudder at the thought. Varvatos's wrath would be better than that. Actually Vex's wrath would be better than most things on this planet.
