"I think we need to stop seeing each other. My father is marrying me off. I'm sorry I was not able to say goodbye properly. This will be the last. You will surely find the right person to love. Thank you for the memories."

Shock is an understatement after the two alphas read the message from the omega. They were both frozen in place, hearts pounding rapidly, breath constricting, and their minds struggling to comprehend the words from their lover.

Just moments ago, everything seemed fine as they watched the omega leave the house, and now, they were faced with this abrupt and devastating message. It felt like a whirlwind of emotions, a storm they weren't prepared to weather.

What had transpired? Why did it come to this? Why was it so sudden?

Unanswered questions swirled in their heads, leaving them in a state of confusion and disbelief. The reality of the situation hit them like a tidal wave, and they weren't ready to accept it.

With shaky hands and tear-filled eyes, they desperately dialed Xiao Zhan's number. However, it went straight to voicemail, indicating that he couldn't be reached. Their hearts sank even further, the pain of loss and confusion overwhelming them. The alpha within them howled in anguish at the sudden absence of their omega.

In a desperate attempt to reach him, they tried contacting him through social media, only to discover that they had been blocked. The realization struck them like a physical blow, and the weight of the situation began to settle in—their beloved omega was gone, and they were left with a void that seemed insurmountable.

Alphas are expected to be resilient and unyielding, the epitome of strength. Yet, when their omega was abruptly taken from them, the facade of strength shattered.

Inside Xiao Zhan's penthouse, the air was heavy with the acrid scent that signified profound pain. The two alphas, typically the embodiment of fortitude, crumbled under the weight of their emotions. Tears flowed unabated, and despite their attempts to staunch the tide, the act of holding back only intensified the ache within.

.

The tears ceased, leaving behind the residue of exhaustion. Their cheeks stained and eyes swollen, they slowly rose from their emotional collapse. The weight lingered, but with each passing moment, they managed to stand.

Even as the pain persisted, they gathered their strength. The realization that all connection with the omega was severed sunk in. The university, a silent witness to their connection, would likely disclose no information.

Lost and disoriented, they decided to vacate the penthouse, collecting their belongings. There was no purpose in returning if the omega was absent. The place echoed with memories that clung to them, making it difficult to detach.

Haunted by recollections, they left, acknowledging the difficulty of moving on. The penthouse, now void of their presence, held the remnants of a love they were forced to relinquish.

Although the memories would undoubtedly linger, they chose to press forward. Tomorrow was another day, a chance for the nightmare to dissipate. Maybe the omega was merely overwhelmed and needed respite, or perhaps it was an elaborate jest.

They grasped at any thread of hope, whispering assurances that everything would be fine. As they drifted into sleep, the mantra served as a fragile beacon, illuminating the uncertain path ahead.

.

Xiao Zhan woke up in exhaustion, the room enveloped in the pungent scent of heartbreak. He sat up, body burdened and eyes swollen from relentless tears. Surveying his surroundings, the room seemed alien. When was the last time he vividly saw this space, untouched by the vivid hues of his emotions? It had been years since he left the familial home at eighteen to reside in his penthouse.

His gaze wandered, oblivious to the lingering aroma of his pheromones. Amidst his reflections, a knock on the door shattered his contemplations. Exhausted, he responded weakly, "Yes? Who is it?"

"It's me, LiYing," came the reply. "I was instructed to come home immediately. Are you okay?"

Xiao Zhan scoffed inwardly. Okay? After concealing his engagement from his alphas and abruptly dropping the bomb on them? Of course, he wasn't okay. Even after shedding every tear, his heart still clenched with pain.

"No," he admitted, not bothering about potential eavesdroppers.

"Can I come in?" LiYing asked.

Xiao Zhan sighed, staring at his trembling hands. "Yeah, come in," he uttered.

The door creaked open, revealing a disheveled LiYing who seemed to have rushed over. Xiao Zhan offered a weak acknowledgment before looking away.

LiYing noticed the pallor in his face, the exhaustion etched in his eyes, and the sagging of his shoulders as if hope had deserted him. She entered and shut the door gently.

"Wanna talk about it?" she asked, approaching the bed.

Xiao Zhan hesitated, his head bowed, tears brimming in his eyes. The moment he thought he had stemmed the flow of tears, LiYing's words opened the floodgates once again.

"It's painful!" he wailed.

LiYing rushed to his side, her adrenaline surging as she cradled him and offered soothing pats on his back.

"I'll listen," she reassured, prompting Xiao Zhan to release his thoughts and emotions, letting his tears flow freely while his words tumbled out of his mouth.

.

Xiao Zhan succumbed to slumber once again, the traces of his second bout of tears still evident on his exhausted face. LiYing remained by his side, an attentive audience to his sobs and grievances. She gently patted his back until weariness overpowered him, prompting her to delicately guide him back to the bed.

Observing him, a bittersweet smile played on LiYing's lips. Her hand instinctively brushed away stray tears on the omega's cheeks, even though he was now deep in sleep.

A profound realization struck her – their experiences were vastly different. While she was coerced into an arranged marriage, she had never endured mistreatment. Xiao Zhan, on the other hand, had shouldered a lifetime of burdens, ensnared in his father's control.

A lone tear escaped LiYing's eye, her heart throbbing in empathy for the omega.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best," she whispered, a pledge made to the sleeping omega, even if he couldn't hear.
