IX. Lost innocence

[chapter 9]

After it i felt like killing myself. Maybe later I'd come around to it, but now i needed to save Ellie.

I get up from the bed and put on my clothes that were now slightly torn. I scratch and pull at my skin to try and make myself feel more clean. I'll never be clean again.
Ew, ew, ew.

I get the key from John. Pig, pig, pig!

Everything feels disgusting. I want to cry. I don't want to do anything anymore. I'll get Ellie, then i'm done.

I pull on my jacket and take my backpack.

Soon David comes down and starts talking with John. I hear him praise me, even though all i ever did was scream and cry. Wish i stabbed his guts out instead.

I slip past them, John winking at me as he's talking to David. Fucking pig. Pig, pig, pig!

Everything aches as i crouch around town to get to Ellie. All i think of is Ellie. It's for her. I had to. She needs to be okay.

I pass a few people and get to the building where the cage is located. I jump in through the window and run to the cage. I pass a headless corpse on the way.

I see Ellie, sitting in the cage. I slowly walk towards the cage, fumbling for the keys from my pocket. I open the cage and hug her with an emotionless face. Ellie just stares at me. "Eli.. what happened? What did you do?"

"What i had to."

She shakes her head with a confused look and we walk back to the window. she grabs her knife that was stabbed in the shelf. "I'm worried. I need to know how this happened. You just bash in here and open the door like its nothing. What's going on?." She complains.

I stare idly infront of me as we walk. "Nothing." I didn't want to think about it now. Not yet. I needed to look strong for a little longer.

We jumped through the window into the snow.

"What the fuck is wrong with these people?" Ellie yells annoyedly, but is actually scared. So was i.

They're sick fucks, that's what.

"Let's get out of this town." She says in a wavering voice. I nod and we crouch down to leave the town.

By now David had definetly noticed me being gone, and was looking for me. But i doubt they would put a kill order on me since i was 'cooperative'. Shut up, shut up, shut up.

Unless they saw me with Ellie, of course.

We hid from the men of the town by crouching behind thrown out furniture and being extremely quiet.

"The girl has escaped!" Someone suddenly yells.

"Shit." I say and we start going faster.

We've been walking for so long when someone notices us. "There!"

"Shit. Run!" And we run away from their sight. We crouch behind the same men and stab them in their throats.

We jump in through another window into a big building. "Take what you need. Then we're out." Ellie says quickly.

I take a shiv from a table, a few rags and then run to Ellie. We run to the door but someone comes in.

"You're easy to track."

It's David.

He looks extremely angry at me. "You stupid little girls." I take out my gun but he pushes me against a table and i accidentally knock out a few lanterns. They fall and catch fire quickly. I grab the back of my head and wince.
