Ever since that first meeting, Adam and I had been almost inseparable. However, everything we did together had to be in secret locations or at my house but NEVER at his house. I loved that Adam and I were getting more serious, but I also hated always having to be in the dark.
Today was my first live show since my audition and its a BATTLE! Adam paired me with this girl Rachel, a powerhouse singer that can basically sing anything Adam puts in front of her, and I'm super nervous! Adam keeps telling me I'll do great but how can I be sure? I'm not nearly as good as Rachel is!
Right now we're backstage prepping for the performance. From where I'm sitting I could see out onto the big stage and I could hear all the other performances before mine. The noise from backstage and out in front of all those people watching the show was really starting to get to me so I went into my dressing room. As soon as I closed the door I broke down. This pressure was really starting to get to be too much for me from the show mainly, but also from my relationship with Adam. I loved him so much but keeping secrets are never easy, especially one so big!
I heard a knock on my door so I quickly tried to compose myself and opened the door. Standing there was Adam and his worried expression was instantly comforting to me. He wordlessly stepped in and closed the door before pulling me in for a tight, long embrace. He quickly pecked my lips. "Baby what's wrong?"
"Adam, I'm just so scared! I don't want to mess up or let you down, and keeping our secret is starting to get to me... I hate feeling so stressed out all the time." I said quietly, looking at the floor. At least getting my feelings out finally had let me stop crying. I hated feeling so weak.
"Lily, you will do fine.I need you to take a deep breath and relax for one second okay? And all you need to focus on is doing a great job out there, do not worry about us LIl! We are absolutely fine. I love you, remember that while you're on stage, and if you ever get nervous just look at me." Adam said extremely reassuringly. His gaze alone made me feel so much better and much more relaxed.
"Okay Adam I will. Thanks for cheering me up! I feel so much better now, all because of you. But I go on in like two minutes so you better get back out there! You don't want the crew to start looking for you!" I said before kissing him on the cheek and pushing him towards the door.
Adam smiled and kissed me once on the lips before leaving my room. I waited thirty seconds and then I left, making my way to the stage. I saw Rachel on the other side, looking almost as nervous as I felt up until two minutes ago. The beginning chords of If I Lose Myself by OneRepublic started playing, so Rachel and I walked onto the huge stage under the bright lights, and I felt at home once again. One deep breath later, it was time to sing for my life.
I stared up at the sun, thought of all the people, places and things I've loved.
I stared up just to see, of all the faces, you were the one next to me.

After the song finished I felt so fulfilled, so happy with my performance. Adam and I locked eyes many times during the song, and his smile helped me to do the best I could for him, but also for myself.
Christina, Cee Lo, and Blake gave their feedback and they were all in my favor! Adam couldn't keep the smile off his face as he heard his colleagues give such great critiques to me!
Adam give us his feedback and then it was time to choose who would be moving on in the competition. He took what seemed like an eternity to finally make his decision, which was me, THANK GOD! His long silence made me so nervous I thought I was going to faint right in the middle of the stage.
I stayed and watched the rest of the show from the TV in my dressing room, just relaxing in my sweats, still high on my win in the battle rounds. It was comforting to know that I have a few weeks off now just to concentrate on my relationship with Adam.
About a half an hour after the show taping ended there was a tapping on my door. I opened the door to see Adam standing there so nonchalantly sexy in a couldn't care less way. "Let's go somewhere. Follow my car, I want you to finally see my place."
At first I was shocked because we've never been allowed to hang out at his place because of the attention it would cause. Before I could ask what changed though, he was already pulling me outside towards our cars laughing all the while.
SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO sorry that I haven't updating in so long! So much has been going on, but I finally found time to update! The picture on the right is what Lily wore for her performance.
