Jimin heard a knock on his door at around 6AM the day of the mission. He opened the door, stepping back in confusion when he saw Jungkook at the door, hands in his pockets and fully geared up. He wore a compression shirt and tight cargo pants, buckles holding weapons in place. He leaned against the doorframe.
"Morning?" Jimin said, confused. He adjusted his vest, and looked at Jungkook expectantly.
"The cafeteria staff said you didn't come down for breakfast. The mission's in like 3 hours, come on."
"Come on what?" Jimin said, groaning.
"Eat something. I'll take you." Jungkook pushed himself off the doorframe, his muscles bulging out of his sleeves.
Jimin gulped, following Jungkook out of his room, and pocketing his phone.
"So, you ready?" Jungkook asked as they entered the elevator.
"Always." Jimin allowed himself a small smile.
Jungkook chuckled. Jimin had missed that. "Of course you are." Jungkook smiled, ruffling the shorter male's hair.
Jimin froze on Jungkook's touch, making Jungkook falter. Jimin bit his lip, "No, it's fine." he grabbed Jungkook's hand. "I dont want you to feel uncomfortable around me, Kook. You're my best friend. And you made a mistake, and whatever, but... I can't imagine my life without you. So, for completely selfish reasons, I forgive you."
Jimin kept his eyes trained to the elevator doors as Jungkook let out a breath. "I-"
"Nope." Jimin interrupted, "End of story."
"Okay." Jungkook said, trying to suppress a smile. "So we're back to normal."
"Yeah." Jimin smiled. "Now, tell me what's actually going on with you and Lisa."
They walked out of the elevator and Jungkook sighed. "I dont even know anymore. She's been on edge since the Jeongs arrived, and it's just- just uncomfortable. It's like her niceness has worn off or something. She's like a whole new person."
"And? Do you like this new person?" Jimin asked, placing a spoon of fruit salad on his plate while Jungkook trailed behind him, hands in his pockets.
"I dunno." Jungkook groaned. "Why is this so complicated? I know it's my first relationship in a while, but it's not supposed to be so uncomfortable right?"
"Nope, it's not." Jimin shook his head. "So, you want to end it?" Jimin tried not to get too hopeful. But he couldn't stop himself, Jungkook had kissed him, right?
"I won't lie, I've thought about it." Jungkook said. "And, I kinda- never mind."
"Aw, come on. Tell me!" Jimin sat down, picking up his spoon.
"Well I kinda liked someone else." Jungkook said, looking down at his lap. "I know, I'm an awful person. I think it's that guilt keeping me in this relationship."
"Never mind that, tell me, who is she?" Jimin said, trying to feign excitement as a glimmer of hope emerged in his eye. "Or he?"
"No. I can't tell you." Jungkook said, embarrassed. "It's dumb."
"Ugh, you're boring." Jimin rolled his eyes, "Come on, I won't tell anyone, I promise!"
"I regret getting you down here." Jungkook said, putting his head in his hands.
"No you dont," Jimin joked, "You love me."
Jungkook froze slightly and then caught himself, laughing embarrassedly. "Hurry up."
Soon enough, Jimin finished his small bowl of fruit and grabbed a coffee to go, heading with Jungkook to the training centre. The agents had already collected there, since reporting time had been 7:30. Jimin checked his watch, 7:25. Just in time.
