"... And just as a reminder, you have a test next week!"
It was the first day of being in an unfamiliar place, what people would call "college". Despite every freshmen being new to the place, they had found their own friend groups, whether it was already made years prior, or they instantly clicked. For Flare, however, she didn't find making friends to be her own priority. Not only was she too afraid to do so, but it always ended up in failure when making and maintaining friends, so to save herself from going over again, she walked out of the lecture hall, finding someplace for her to draw.
As she wandered around, a soft gentle breeze flowed through her, and looking up, the skies were as clear as ever. She kept walking, trying to find a place that seemed quiet besides a library, but every corner she looked at would either have a group of people intermingling with each other or have some sort of person be there, and to end up talking to people would just be the last thing on her mind.
"Man, there's no place to draw," She thought. "Might as well just head ba-"
She wandered somewhere that to her, was beautiful. A courtyard, filled with bushes, ferns, trees, and flowers scattered everywhere, with a gray stone path leading to a semi-large fountain, with water spraying on top and reaching down to a large body of water that the fountain carried, with a soft roaring accompanying it. Besides the occasional chirping here and there, no other voices were present.
"This is actually a good place to draw," Flare thought again, sitting down on the edge of the fountain and dropping her peach vintage bag on the ground with a soft thud.
Grabbing her black sketchbook and a yellow 05-lead pencil, she flipped through the pages until she found a blank page. She thought of what to sketch, before deciding to sketch out a pegasus soaring through the sky, hitting through every cloud as she clears the sky for a new day. She added some cloud texture to the pegasus' short mane and tail, before drawing on a determined yet happy face on the pegasus' head, and finishing it off with a trail line flowing behind this pegasus.
"Hmm, what cutie mark should I make this time?" Flare asked herself. It wasn't the first time she had to think about this, as she had redone the pegasus' cutie mark symbol multiple times before, ranging from a simple paint brush to basically anything that even resembled art, as if she was just like Flare. Finally, she decided on a cutie mark: paint splatter consisting of pink, orange, and yellow, with two small stars on opposite ends of the splatter, intertwining with a white line. looking at it, she was happy about it. She checked the time on her watch.
"3:30 pm. I think making a bit more sketch poses would do until I go do my homework in the dorms."
And so she did, continuing to sketch through poses for the next hour. The poses she drew included a cunning assassin kill, a kind mage defending using his barrier that he conjured up, a small princess tending to her wolf and bunny, and a fierce archer shooting her flame-covered arrow.
"Alright, that should be good enough, I need time to start my homework before I procrastinate."
Packing up her things, she stood up, and wearing her bag, started to walk down to her dorm, not ready to start what would be the next few hours of frustration of simple calculus problems.

"Keep going!" A pink unicorn hollered over a blue pegasus, who was flying through the dark enchanted forest that was called The Everfree. "Dont let it escape!"
"I'm trying, Pastel!" the blue pegasus yelled back. "It's too fast, but I think I can get to it!"
Flapping her wings harder than before, she was soaring through the trees, getting a clear view of the suspect. A black smoke, zipping through as fast as possible, in a path that the pegasus had no idea if it knew where it was heading to or not. But she didn't lose sight of it, even if she couldn't hear her friend as she trailed behind. The smoke flew down, and the pegasus followed it, flying until both reached into a glowing pool in the middle of the Everfree.
"Stop right there!" the pegasus yelled, landing on the ground in a fighting stance, her wings opened in the case it decided to fly again. "I won't let you harm anymore ponies from your corruption!"
"Oh Twinkleheart, Twinkleheart", it cooed. "Who said I was going to harm ponies?"
"What?" Twinklehert asked.
"I thought I was going to be able to cause ponies to fight with each other, just like Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Chrysalis did," it started. "But with Twilight Sparkle and her Council of Friendship spreading harmony, it was hard to spark a fight because their mind was filled with friendship."
The entity sneered as it said friendship, but continued. "I couldn't get into anypony's head, no matter how much I tried convincing! But I recently found out about portals to other dimensions, and one just so happened to be in a place where not even Twilight least expects it."
Twinkleheart was shocked. "How did you figure out about dimensions?" Twinkleheart interrogated.
"A whisper here, a rumor there," the entity responded, smirking. "I did some research at the Canterlot Library as I controlled some ponies that had access to certain parts that are normally restricted to other ponies, and one of the portals is here."
In the background, both Twinkleheart and the entity heard faint hoof steps, as if someone is joining.
"Well, I guess it's my cue", it said. "I enjoyed our short time chatting, Twinkleheart. But unfortunately, i've got souls to claim."
"Come back here!" Twinkleheart yelled as she galloped towards it, but it was too late, as the entity fell into the pool, which acted as a portal as no water droplets splattered out of the pool. Twinkleheart landed in a thud, her hooves drifting on the dirt, mere inches of the edge of the pool. Shocked, she stood up as Pastel ran past a bush, seeing Twinkleheart. Immediately Pastel recognized Twinkleheart's stance, and she trotted up to her, still in shock.
"Where... where did it go?" Pastel asked, puzzled.
Twinkleheart looked at Pastel's red eyes. "I have no idea" she replied. "But... I need to stop it before it causes more harm in a different dimension."
Pastel looked shocked. "You're not..."
"Yes Pastel... I need to venture this alone."
