They weren't sure what time it was, but from the openings where the leaves doesn't cover the light blue sky, the sun looked like it was in its highest peak. Twinkleheart and Flare wandered about in the Forest, but they kept getting lost.
"Is it just me or this is the 99th time we've seen this big tree surrounded by a circle dirt path." Twinkleheart noted.
"If only we had a GPS here," Flare complained, with her knees weak and arms heavy.
"I think if I can fly up, I can scout the area to get out of this place," Twinkleheart suggested.
"How come we didn't think of that before?" Flare asked Twinkleheart, as she plumped down on the grass to rest up.
"I thought it would be easier if we kept following the path."
"Well, might as well get your wings going."
Twinkleheart opened her wings and flew up past the leaves, and into the sky. The forest ahead of her was vast, but...
"Is my vision blurry or does the sky feel... static?" Twinkleheart thought to herself.
Twinkleheart looked up and around. She was right, the sky looked static, as if it was hiding some thing. She flew down to Flare, who was massaging her legs.
"Find anything?" Flare asked.
"We're definitely far," Twinkleheart reported, much to her disappointment. "But, I think there's something in the sky that's hidden from the public eye."
"A secret place?" Flare wondered. "We might be able to find answers if we can somehow get up there.
"Well, maybe we can start with this big tree," Twinkleheart pointed to the tree with a thick and long trunk. "We've passed this so many times, maybe it's a clue to get in?"
"Maybe," Flare agreed. "I'll check around the trunk, can you check the branches up at the top?"
"Aye aye, captain!"
The two looked around the tree, with Twinkleheart zooming past the branches and Flare circling the trunk. Eventually, Flare finds a secret hole underneath one of the roots, covered with moss. As she takes off the moss, she yells to Twinkleheart, "Twinkle! I think I found something here!"
Twinkleheart flew towards Flare's side. "A black hole?"
"I think there could be something in there," Flare noted. "I'll go in."
She crawled inside the hole. Despite it being too dark for her, she could kinda see a small lever on the ground. Crawling, she flicked the switch, and the area around her shook. Dirt separated each other as it created a lot of space for her to fall down at a short distance with an "oompf". As Flare got up, what was a cramped hole became a huge tunnel with a staircase leading upwards.
"Are you alright down there?" Twinkleheart hollered out. "It felt like an earthquake happened around here!"
"I'm fine!" Flare yelled in response. "You better come see this Twinkleheart!"
Twinkleheart went in, at first it was a bit tight for her to squeeze past, but then she too entered inside with a splat on the ground. Flare helped Twinkleheart up, and looked at the dirt-made stairs.
"Well, I guess all we gotta do is go up," Twinkleheart suggested.
They climbed up the stairs, eventually seeing light as they came to the other side of where they entered underneath the tree. Flare tried to walk out of the staircase, but was bumped by an invisible wall.
"Well, whoever made this actually considered all of the potential safety hazards" Flare noted, stepping back before continuing.
"And even outside animals too", Twinkleheart added as she saw a bird fly past the stairs without harm.
They eventually reached into a large patch of cloud, with white iron gates blocking the way, and a large purple wolf guarding it. Its fur had yellow lightning patterns all over, and its eyes showing a cold pink look towards the two. It snarled at them, as of they were intruders.
"Uhh..." Flare started, looking at Twinkleheart.
"I don't speak wolf," Twinkleheart whispered to Flare. "But whatever happens, we have to prepare for the worst."
The wolf, with anger, positioned himself to lunge at the two. Twinkleheart slowly opened her wings, preparing the same, with Flare taking a step back to fight. She didn't know how to actually fight, but she knows how to land in a small punch to the eye. Just as the fight was about to commence, a loud shout came from within the gates. Twinkleheart and Flare couldn't see who it was behind the wolf, but the voice was more of a cutesy-girly voice, as if it was a child speaking.
"Majestic Juniperpaw!" she hollered. "Stand down! They're not enemies!"
The wolf looked back, giving a confused whimper. But then, she stepped away, as the gates opened backwards for Flare and Twinkleheart to look at. What was supposed to be a normal cloud was filled with a lot of differently colored crystals portraying as plants all around the area, with a light navy blue being the walls around and a white ceiling holding a gold and diamond chandelier. In front of them was a small girl, wearing a white and pink ombré gown with pink ribbons on the side of her dress. Her hair was light brown, and down to shoulder-length, and her brown eyes showed to Flare and Twinkleheart.
"Dont worry Juni", the girl calmly said, walking up to her and petting her head. The wolf, soothed from the girl's affection, lied down as she gave more pats to her. "You did well as a guard. It's just that this is an exception."
"Uhh, can some creature tell us what's going on?" Twinkleheart asked, closing her wings and tilting her head sideways.
"And we're the exception?" Flare asked.
"Ah, forgive me for not introducing myself properly," the girl said, looking at Twinkleheart and Flare as she continued petting the wolf. "My name is Vivi, I'm the overseer and princess of the Forest of Memory."
"Doesn't look like memories to me," Twinkleheart complained, to which Flare gave a quick glare to her.
Vivi chuckled softly. "That's because this is your first time here. Of course this looks like a crystal forest to the outsider, but the crystals catalog all important memories that you've had, even forgotten ones."
Vivi then continued. "This guard is Majestic Juniperpaw. There's supposed to be a bunny of the same look too, but she's sleeping right now. Her name's Precious Mellowstrike."
"Why do those names feel... familiar..?" Flare asked, pondering to find where they came from.
"That's because they came from you!" Vivi exclaimed, happily.
"What?!" Flare and Twinkleheart exclaimed, shocked.
"They're the names that you made in a game called Animal Jam," Vivi explained. "In fact, this world is created by you, Flare. But we must not talk here, it can hear us. Come on inside where it's safe for the three of us."
Flare and Twinkleheart looked at each other and enter in together, as the gates close and the wolf continues to stand guard into the vast sky. In an instant, the wolf and the gates become invisible, as the dirt staircase began to fall from the sky and land on the ground, covering its tracks including the secret lever and molded as if nothing had happened.
