40 minutes into their 11 p.m. productive session at Jeongguk's place:
"Want me to refill your mug?" Taehyung cut through the silence.
"That would be great, thank you." Jeongguk answered, his eyes still fixed on his laptop screen while his right hand was busy jotting things down in a notebook.
60 minutes in:
As Taehyung shifted in his seat, his foot accidentally brushed against Jeongguk's under the table. A tinge of pink dusted Jeongguk's cheeks, but he swiftly masked it with a glare.
Jeongguk raised an eyebrow as he looked up from his laptop.
"Oops, sorry," Taehyung feigned innocence, his eyes dancing with mischief. "Needed some warmth."
Jeongguk chuckled, his playful facade cracking slightly. "From me, really?"
"Yeah," Taehyung continued, a glint in his eye. "You're surprisingly warm despite the whole ice princess thing you got going on."
"Shut up. Also, I thought you need glasses." Jeongguk recalled the time when he had accompanied the older, who had glasses on while writing an essay, in Mingyu's room while a party was going on downstairs. Felt like a long time ago.
"I do, sorta. But I just don't want to wear them sometimes."
2 hours and 45 minutes later:
"I want to take break. I need it." Taehyung voiced out in midst of the silence and typing on keyboard noises, paper rustling, pen on notebook noises. It had been almost two hours now.
"Oh? Go ahead, hyung," Jeongguk mumbled, not sparing Taehyung much of his attention.
Taehyung closed his laptop, eyeing Jeongguk who was still so engrossed in his tasks.
"Mmmm.... I'm good." Jeongguk said, momentarily looking up to meet Taehyung's gaze. "Feel free to sit or lie in the bed or wherever you want."
"But you're not gonna be anywhere there...."
"Okay, and?"
"Right, okay, keep doing your thing~" Taehyung gracefully rose from the chair, casting a lingering glance at the inviting couch. He moved with a sense of leisure, settling onto the cushions as his eyes wandered around the neatly arranged room.
The flowers on the nightstand caught his attention, accompanied by a framed picture of high school Jeongguk standing in between a man and a woman, presumably his parents. Taehyung felt a subtle urge to inquire but chose not to disturb the younger man.
After a while, Jeongguk declared, "Okay, all done for now," as he closed his laptop and tidied up his workspace. "Finally," Taehyung grinned, shifting to a sitting position and patting the space beside him as Jeongguk approached the couch.
