"Why don't you let me look after the child?"
The older sister shouts at the younger one, still unhappy with the decision.
"For the millionth time, no! You will not adopt Maleficent's baby!"
The fairy godmother shouts. For her, it's an unreasonable idea to bring a villain's child to live in Auradon, and knowing King Adam, he would never permit it.
"By the Holy Fairy Helena, it's just a baby, why should it have to pay for its mother's mistakes?"
She gives the speech that Benjamin will give years later.
"You know it wasn't just Maleficent who had children, right? The Evil Queen, Ursula, and others are also having kids."
"But none of them are her children." She took a deep breath to calm herself. "And how is the baby? Are you taking good care of it?"
"It's receiving the same care as the others."
"Helena! It's a baby we're talking about. The king's son won't be born until next month, and the queen has three doctors around her at all times."
She knows that "Receiving the same care as everyone else" is the same as "being treated like human garbage."
"What do you want me to do? Do you think there are any doctors in a sane mind who want to help Maleficent? Especially giving birth?" She answers as if it were obvious."We sent Yen Sid there, I think he might be of some help." Helena turned her face away, wanting to ignore it. "It's a girl."
"Have you seen her? What name did Maleficent give her? Tell me what she looks like."
Her excitement flashed back to weeks ago, when she heard about the pregnancy.
"Yes." She sat down again for a civilized conversation. "As I told you, other villains are also having children. Yen Sid is keeping us up to date with everything, and she is, if I'm not mistaken, the second or third child to be born." She did the math on the births the wizard had told her about. "But from what he told me, it seems the whole island is still in shock. Maleficent being a mother, who would have thought?" In the fairy's mind, the question is, "Who is the madman who had a child with her?" "It's a girl, she was born prematurely. One month ahead of schedule..." She read the letter the wizard had sent. "There's magic. She was born with a dragon mark on her left forearm, and her few hairs are purple, a sign of magic."
"She's half fairy, then?"
Nanny thinks.
"That's what it looks like."
"And how will she survive on an island without magic? She can't, we have to..."
"That's out of our hands, sister, and if it's any consolation, Maleficent hasn't shown any feelings for her daughter."
"And the name?"
Helena laughs again, remembering the iconic name given to the baby. "It's Better you see for yourself." "She's still the same, sister, and the daughter will live out the same fate."
