KING :- Such insolence! How dare the likes of you humiliate me! Don't you feel remorse to have committed such treason!?

ARCHITECT :- (upright) Oh well, your majesty I wouldn't dare to do such a thing. Forgive this servent but an important information has slipped your mind, my king.

KING :- (bewildered) what information?

ARCHITECT :- You were the one who made amendments on the plan before the arch's construction. I just followed your order and changed the design. ( smiles )

Upon hearing this, the king was all red. He had almost lost his mind.

[ King asks him to leave. The architect bows and leaves ]

KING:- (Touching his temple) This is a tricky matter. I shall be needing some advice. Bring me the wiseman of our country.

NARRATOR:- Here entered the wisest man. A man so old, who could neither walk nor see, was the wisest man of the country.

[The COUNCILLOR explained the situation.]

WISEMAN :- King, the culprit must be punished. Here, truly, the crime was committed by the arch, hence the arch shall be hanged.

KING:- Hmm... ( touches his chin)
(Humming in agreement) You may leave.

[The old ma- *ahem* *ahem* the wisest man left the court]

COUNCILLOR:- Hanging the arch THAT TOUCHED YOUR CROWN?
(disbelief) How shameful

KING:- (nods) I believe we should postpone the in-

PEOPLE:- (barging in) WE WANT A HANGING! SOMEONE MUST BE HANGED! SOMEONE MUST BE HANGED.

MINISTER:- I don't think this matter can be kept aside... (Worried)

[Facing an uproar from the citizens, a noose was set up. And a royal decree was passed.]

MINISTER:- (announcing) THE MAN WHO SHALL BE AS TALL AS THIS NOOSE WOULD BE HANGED.

Citizens passed the noose, one after the other. Either short or too tall. None the right height. Finally, came the king himself.

The king passed through the noose.

He was the right height.

THE KING SHALL BE HANGED

[People gathered around the hanging ground, to witness the historic moment of their king's execution]

With the minister's signal, the king was hanged

PEOPLE:- LONG LIVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE DYING KING!

Accompanied by people's amusement and cheers, came the end of the just and placid king.
