I gasped when I suddenly could not breath, water gushing into my mouth and choking me. As I looked past the freezing cold water, I saw two people. One of them was familiar and brought more chills to my body than the cold water did.

I had lost count of the days I was down here, but it was quite a while. The Beta visited a couple of times and he was my worst nightmare. He would leave me battered and bruised, unable to move and barely hanging onto my life.

But there were worst things than nightmares.

One of the men who checked up on me constantly held a bucket in his hand. He was the one who doused me with water. He had a soft smile at his lips which was not cunning at all. His messy mop of blonde hair was pulled back from a decent face with blue eyes and a sharp jaw.

"Was that necessary?" the woman who came with him asked.

She wore slate grey slacks and a peach blouse with matching heels. Her short, bouncy hair was nearly domed without a strand out of place. She was different from the others I saw but I could not pick how.

"Miss Miller, can you hear me?" she asked as she crouched down to look into my eyes. "My name is Michelle. I am a human relations officer and am here to take you out of here."

I perked up at that, feeling hopeful for the first time in a long time. She had come to save me! I was leaving this horrible prison!

"What?" the other man said, frowning. "No one told me anything about that."

"I'm telling you now. Untie her now," Michelle instructed.

The man hesitated but complied anyway. It was liberating to have my wrists unbound. He helped me to my feet which were like jelly. I was like a child learning to walk again, except it was painful. I stumbled out, my eyes adjusting to brighter light.

The sun was hot and bright. I hissed as the sharp light sent pain up my temples. An SUV was parked on from of the building, which turned out to be an old run down manor with some parts still intact. This was the place I had been in for days.

"Are you really going to let me go?" I croaked, my voice hoarse.

Michelle gave me a smile after we both sat in the car with her beside me. I marvelled over seeing the trees again. The mountain range told me we were still at Black Rock. Was Tammy here as well?

"You can shower first and see a doctor and then we'll talk. How does that sound?" Michelle offered.

It was a much better option than waiting out at that rundown manor. Michelle had just saved me so I had to trust her. I relaxed my aching body onto the plush seats, worrying over how dirty they were getting.

I had not had a decent shower in days. The most I got was a bucket of soapy cold water thrown over me. They had not changed my clothes either so I smelt a bit ripe. Next to Michelle, I felt so self conscious. I felt like an animal beside her. I probably looked like one too.

A small town came into view by the foot of the mountains. Buildings were scattered around, buried deep within the woods. The building we stopped at was quaint yet elegant. It was three storeys high faces with red bricks.

I easily relaxed with how normal it looked. I was back with civilisation again. Michelle helped me out. She was a head taller than me but had more muscle on her. She could bear my weight and patiently kept up with me as I stumbled up the cobblestone path to wooden double doors. The door opened, revealing an elderly woman with soft facial features and king blue eyes. Her eyes made me flinch and I looked down.

"Poor thing," she cooed. "Let me help you to your room."

The woman introduced herself as Catherine. With Michelle, the two women helped me to the closer bedrooms on the ground floor. Catherine was running a hot bath for me while Michelle was talking to another girl about a change of clothes and the doctor who had to come after I was done with my bath.
