Angry faces glared at me as a man dragged away by the arm. I found it hard to keep up with the brute as led me away. Everything was different now. I was not going to die. I could save Tammy now.
"Where are you taking me?" My newly found confidence drove me to ask as I tried to shrug out of the tight grip.
He did not reply and tugged me forward, almost making me land on my face. I frowned at the brutality but said nothing about it. I figured he would not care either.
"There she is. The woman of the hour."
It was the Gamma, his dark eyes calculative as he looked at me. His hands were in the pockets if his pants, a white shirt neatly tucked in, the top button undone. There was an air of sophistication to him, and he seemed like the kind of man who put an extra effort into his looks.
The Beta and his henchmen stood to the side, while another man stood by the Gamma. He was taller, with long hair tied at the back. His light brown eyes blankly looked at me and I could not figure out what he could be thinking about.
"Forgive me but I've forgotten your name," the Gamma addressed me.
"It's Kendall Miller and I'd like to thank you for your help, Sir," I replied.
He hummed with a nod. "You'll have to thank the alpha for his last-minute consideration. We do have business to discuss. Would you mind coming with me?"
With that, the Beta and his men left, but not before the blue-eyed blonde winked at me. I cringed. I fell in step behind the Gamma and the long-haired man, the brute who had brought me leaving with the Beta.
I hoped I would never see him again.
"We just have to go over some minor details is all," the Gamma clarified. "As you've noticed, most of the pack isn't happy with our decision."
I hastened my pace so I could be closer. "Why though? I didn't do anything wrong."
He simply chuckled. "You'll learn in time."
We entered a boardroom which was vacant now. I let out a breath of relief to be away from the judging glares I had received from everyone who had passed by us. The Gamma cheerfully greeted everyone, while the other man remained silent.
"Right. Let us go over the unimportant stuff," the Gamma began after we had settled down, the other man bringing out a notebook. "For starters, you will be under Human Relations. That way you'll be safe."
"Safe?" I repeated.
He tilted his head. "You are in werewolf world now, young lady. You can't begin to fathom what these big bad wolves would do to you."
His tone was mocking but I could tell it was no joke. "How would I be safe? Wouldn't it be better if I left?"
"No, it wouldn't," he chuckled. "Anyway, you can't leave until it's safe for you. We still need to investigate you. How foolish would we be to only go by your word?"
"Tell us again how you ended up here," the other man finally spoke.
I looked away from the Gamma's piercing gaze. I fumbled with my words as I recounted the story, fiddling with my fingers. I did not miss the way the two men looked at each other.
A large tablet was in front of me. On it was what I supposed to be a map of Black Rose.
"We found you here," the man said, pointing at the map I was yet to understand. "Miles away from the territory border. Your car was a short distance away. Which means you drove past territory borders undetected and made it that far. How?"
