Chapter 14

Darryl POV

I turn around and hide myself, not wanting to be seen. My heart shatters, not understanding why he would do this. I take a deep breath and wait a second before walking back in, to contain my tears.

Zak POV

I pull away from the kiss, feeling happiness again. Suddenly I see a familiar face walk around the corner, with a hurt but worried expression.

I can't even tell if I'm mad to see him, or incredibly happy.

"H-hey Zak. Are you okay? What happened?"

I almost let myself forget everything that happened and wanted to open my arms for a hug, but stopped myself.

"Im okay, I think."

Relief washed over him as he also seems like he wants to go in for a hug, but doesn't allow himself.

"T-that's good. That's really good."

He fakes a smile and I see his eyes water, obviously holding back.

Lizzy looks between us, seemingly understanding.
"I'll leave y'all two alone for a little bit."

She walks out and closes the door behind her; the sound of the door almost sounding like someone's saying, 'go ahead and let it all out' , so I did.

I immediately started crying like a baby, feeling instant comfort as I feel Darryl's arms wrap around me.

"Just tell me what happened, Zak," he says as he pulls away to listen.

"All I remember is being upset with you so I was driving and texting Lizzy to come over, but everything went black. Apparently I ended up getting T-boned."

He pulls me back into a hug as I start to tear up again.

"Zak, you know I love you and would never do anything to hurt you. I only told Abby I loved her because she said she would take down the picture she posted, that she decided to randomly take when she saw me at the coffee shop. It meant absolutely nothing, I promise. She even stole my phone when I tried to make her leave. Im really sorry she put you through that."

Oh. That phone call makes a little more sense now. I completely regret kissing Lizzy, I hope she doesn't expect anything.

"I-im sorry too, for kissing Lizzy. I know you weren't even in here when It happened but I feel horrible for it, because I only did it thinking you were hanging out with Abby since she answered your phone when I tried calling. I really just wanted to kiss you instead," I say while looking at him with a slight smile, hoping for a good response.

His face lights up, and happy tears fills his eyes this time as he pulls me in for a deep kiss.

Lizzy outside just watching like 👁️👄👁️

"O-ow." I chuckled into the kiss from him pushing a little too forcefully.

He quickly pulled away and looked concerned.
"Im so sorry Did I hurt you?"

I smile at his concern.
"Im okay, just sore."

He does a sad frown and then gently kisses my forehead, "Im sorry muffin I'll be more gentle."

"Don't stay that way though."

His face turns red from the unexpected flirting.

I chuckle at him, blushing as well. I try to lean up to get another kiss, but quickly stop from sharp pains throughout my body.

"Just stay down Zak it's okay, Just rest for now."

I want to argue but I know he's right, I do need to just rest for now.

"Will you stay with me?"

"Of course, you muffin."
