Chapter 9

Zak POV

I wake up and my eyes flutter open. I look around and see im in Darryls arms.

I smile a bit, wanting to snuggle more into him and fall asleep. But I know I cant, he doesn't love me.

I slide out of bed and check my phone.

New text message

L-Hey zak!! Its lizzy, the girl you met the other day at the mall:))

Z- Oh hey Lizzie, whats up?

L- Nothin much, I was just wondering if you would like to go see a movie tn or something? I hope this isn't weird:)

Hmm, seems like a good idea. Ill take any chance I get to get my mind off things.

Z-Sure i guess, its not weird, dont worry.

The day goes on and it starts getting around the time the movie is gonna start, so I let Darryl know whats going on and then leave.

"Hey Darryl, Im going on a date tonight, Ill be back later."

He stares at me in shock.

"A-...a date?"

"Yeah, her names Lizzie."

His eyes sadden and I see him look down as his eyes fill with tears.

I then hug him, trying to make him feel better.

"Darryl its the only way."

He pulls away and a tear starts falling down his face.

"W-what do you mean?"

I look down and turn red.

"Its the only way I can keep living here and seeing you. I have to find something to distract me. I think about you too much."

I then turn around and walk out the door, ignoring Darryl calling my name.

Just ignore him. Hes faking it.

I arrive to the movies and soon spot Lizzie, who looks very pretty in her outfit.

She smiles and we head inside, finding a spot in the theater.

We sit down and halfway through the movie, I see her turn and look at me. I then look back at her and she smiles and looks at my lips, signaling she wants a kiss.

Do i really want to kiss her. Not really. Will it help me? Maybe.

I lean in and our lips meet. I feel her get goosebumps and I feel bad for the fact I don't think i'm enjoying this as much as her.

I pull away and she smiles greatly, but I only smile a little, hoping this is the farthest we will go.

The movie ends and I walk her to her car, having normal conversation on the way there. We get to the car and she leans against the car door, expecting another kiss.

Ugh fine...

I lean in and kiss her on her cheek, causing her to blush.
"I had a good time Zak."

"Yeah. Me too."

I open her car door for her, trying to be nice. I walk to my car thinking about everything that happened.

Do i like her? Idrk. I kinda dont want to but i feel like i should like her. ugh

I get in my car and drive home, surprised when no one answers the door. I sigh and use the key and walk inside.

I hear crying from the bathroom and knock on the door.

*knock knock*
"Hello? Darryl?"

"GO A-AWAY!!" He says in-between sobs.

"Darryl!!! Whats wrong!!! Open this door!!"

I listen and all i hear is him sobbing. I bang on the door and threaten to break down the door.

"DARRYL OPEN THIS DOOR OR SO HELP ME-"

All of a sudden i hear the door unlock. I quickly open it and see Darryl facing me with a bottle in his hand.

"Darryl!?? Whats wrong!!"

"GO AWAY!!"

"Darryl no whats wrong?!"

"WHAT DO YOU THINK ZAK! OKAY YOU WANNA KNOW WHATS WRONG. HERES WHATS WRONG. I LOVE YOU. OKAY? AND IM SUFFERING HERE BECAUSE IM WATCHING YOU SLIP OUT OF MY LIFE AND GO FOR ANOTHER GIRL. THATS WHATS WRONG."

He then stares at me with broken eyes.

"y-you...love me?"
