soft humming could be heard as the girl leisurely painted the roses. ace stood in front of her, behind one of the rose bushes. despite the silvery tune coming from [y/n] the male couldn't help but feel awkward.

ace was the first to speak, “So... how are you?” the girl's hand paused in its movements before [y/n] moved her head to the side to take a small peek at the male from behind the rose bush. he seemed fine but his eyes gave away his slight nervousness. [y/n] hummed thoughtfully before moving back into her previous position, “How am I in what?”

ace paused for a second, as if he was looking for the right words to use. “Y'know... How are you feeling now? Considering you came into this school with no magic I thought you might be a bit nervous about being around us, considering all of us have magic beside you.” now that [y/n] thought about it she hasn't really stopped to think much of how she felt.

of course it didn't feel right to be plucked out of her world and left in a world she was completely defenseless. but being nervous about it? nope, nuh-uh.

if it were anyone else they might have been overwhelmed by the suddenness of this. but if anything, she felt quite elated to have a new world to discover. to be honest, she might actually prefer living here than go back.

perhaps ace was only asking the question to ease the awkward atmosphere, although, with ace she didn't think he'd be one ask her of how she felt about the perplexing situation she was currently in. they weren't that close, and ace knows that. as of now, in her perspective, their relationship could only be defined as acquaintances not "friends". but, despite that, ace actually had the courage to ask her.

a sly smile painted her lips, “Oh?~ I didn't think that the Ace Trapolla would care for me. A hopeless magicless student such as myself can't handle this much concern~” she said teasingly. ace stammered in response, suddenly finding it difficult to come up with a good come back causing [y/n] to chuckle. her eyes unknowingly softened, “I'm feeling fine. But, I do appreciate the concern, I really do. Thank you.”

the male grumbled, inwardly feeling flustered by the effects her gaze gave to his heart, “You're welcome.” ace willed himself to focus his eyes on his work, trying to maintain a nonchalant face, ignoring the strange churning in his stomach.

the ramshackle prefect had already finished painting quite a lot of roses and it was so peaceful on her and ace's side that they had both forgotten about their other two companions who were currently struggling with color changing.

for instance— “Red... Red... BAM! Wh-whoa! It turned blue?!” try as deuce might the only color that would replace the white would be blue. troublesome isn't it? though i personally think blue roses would be nice it's just that it wouldn't match with the whole color scheme of the party and all.

“Change, o foul color! Change!” and grim— “BWAH!” the previously untainted white flower—, “The rose caught on fire!” —was now an ugly lump of burnt petals. fortunately it was only that rose that was burnt and the rest of the plant wasn't involved. cater shook his head dejectedly at the sight of it.
