NARRATOR P.O.V

After the battle was over and they all reached the monastery, Y/N gave his students what was left of the day to rest and tomorrow aswell. Petra was brought to the infirmary so Manuela can keep watch of her.

The students all parted ways to meditate about their mission except Edelgard who decided to tag alone with Y/N and Byleth. The three were inside the monastery's entrance hall. Before they could go to the audience chamber however, Edelgard stopped Y/N.

Edelgard:"On our way, I had the chance to observe the Red Canyon... Did you notice anything, Professor?"

Y/N:"Yeah. You too?"

Edelgard:"Of course. I expected you would too. Seems I was correct. The area was covered in ruins, each more curious than the last."

Y/N:"The ruins were... alien to me. I do not recognise the style from any culture that I'm aware of. Father didn't taught me much about Fódlan's story even less about the cultures before our current ones, yet I felt strange there."

Edelgard:"Makes sense. I would be surprised if you recognised them after all, they did not match any of the architectural style of any era or culture within the Empire. Or across all of Fódlan, for that matter."

Byleth:"So?"

Edelgard:"The valley's civilization must have flourished and fallen in the distant past, long before the Empire was established. Who do you think lived there?"

Y/N:"Well, if I have to make a bold guess, a civilization either more or less advanced than ours. Something went wrong and they dissappeared, strangely leaving nothing for us to uncover other than the ruins we're speaking of."

Edelgard:"Heh, it's possible they weren't even humans. Perhaps, their remnants still influence this world..."

Although Byleth was bored half-way through the conversation and decided to ignore the two, Y/N did notice the weird way Edelgard phrased that last part, almost as if she was either trying to imply something or wanting to give cryptic information to Y/N.

No matter the point of the conversation it ended there, with Edelgard patting Y/N's shoulder and leaving to check the condition of her friends. Both Byleth and Y/N resumed their walk moving towards the audience chamber.

When they arrived Rhea was there, waiting for the two with a smile on her face.

Rhea:"So, you have safely disposed of those bandits. I pray that their souls find salvation."

Byleth:"Not as safely as we wanted. One of our students got injured in battle."

Rhea:"I'm aware. Seteth informed me of everything. I'm relieved to know Petra is being taken care of by Manuela. It would've been a disaster if one of our precious students were to fall in battle. But why did they target the students to begin with? We must further investigate the cause of all that took place."

Y/N:"Speaking of which Lady Rhea, if an investigation was necessary, why executing the remaining bandits? Their lives could've been used in many different ways. We could've interrogated them, 'release' them and send our troops to follow them and find for whom were they truly working with... I just don't understand why killing them was the best course of action."

Rhea:"Those bandits threatened the lives of our students, our staff, our knights and the principles we base our peace on. As such, they must be punished accordingly. No one is above the Goddess we fight and live for."

Y/N:"...right."

Rhea:"Resuming the main topic of conversation, until we know more I ask that you support the students and relieve them of any unneccesary worry."
