"Ready?" Anna asked her as they stood outside of the dining hall doors.

Truth be told she wasn't ready. Elsa's heart pounded in her chest, her skin felt hot and she felt like she was struggling to breathe. Her mind raced and she pictured a million different scenes of Y/n rejecting her and calling her a freak. A weirdo. "Uhm..." she said, voice cracking as she felt her eyes well with tears. This was all wrong.

"Elsa? What's-"

"I can't do this!"

Her sister immediately started trying to convince her otherwise. "Oh, no, no, no. Yes, you can. You can do this. She's in there waiting for you because she wants you."

"She doesn't know! She-she likes someone who exists only in her mind- only exists in my mind!"

"She's never seen you naked! She didn't know what was in your pants before, so why does that change now? Why-"

"I'm a girl, Anna. It's fucking implied that I have a- God! I hate it and I hate this stupid fucking curse!' Tears streamed down her face now. She felt frustrated with Grand Pabbie and her proclivity for girls.

She was angry with herself for acting like such a coward. But above all, she hated the crux of the problem that stood erect in her skirt already. "I-I can't do this!" she sobbed, already turning around and heading to her room. Footprints made of frost remained with every step she took despite Anna's attempts to get her back.

Her brain drowned out the sound of her name being called down the hallway. All she could hear was the sound of her door slamming behind her and the click of the lock as she made it to her room

It was her safe space, as childish as it sounded, the room that she'd grown up in, the room that she never wanted to leave. Elsa felt like the world did not exist outside of the walls that were covered in frost half the time.

Now they were encased in thick layers of ice as her mind reeled. Who was the person that asked Y/n out a couple of days ago? Surely it wasn't the same person that was currently cursing herself as she curled into a ball on her bed. The knocking on the door was an echo that bounced around in her head as she tried to ignore her sister's pleas for her to come out over and over again.

"Elsa?" She heard Anna say for what, the hundredth time? "You can't- You have to come out. Please?"

"Go away, Anna." She croaked, curling tighter into herself. The sheets and blankets around her were slowly freezing over.

"Elsa, please unlock the door."

She said nothing in response. Her hands went to cover her ears as she tried to drown out the world just outside her door. The scene of her standing just outside the dining hall and then turning around played in her mind over and over again.

Elsa recalled Anna being at her side giving her tips, telling her all would be alright as they made their way down. All the while she felt panic rising within her getting higher and higher and higher until she broke. She felt nauseous with anxiety and above all, regret. She wished that she had taken Anna's advice instead of breaking down. She knew that her sister was right but fear had just gotten the better of her.

Her pulse pounded in her ears and she was contemplating running to the bathroom to puke when she heard her name being called.

Only this time it was not Anna and it did not come from outside her door.

"Elsa?"

She could not believe her ears so she uncovered them and sat up to see- "...Y/n?"
