"Mistress?" you inquired as you approached her.
She was seated at her vanity which also doubled as her desk for work. Papers littered the mahogany surface along with envelopes. There were even a few pencils, though she mostly used her fountain pen to inscribe her notes.
It was just after dinner. Lady Dimitrescu had been writing nearly all day. In fact, you'd only gotten attention from her two times. Once when she had tried to pull you closer after you moved in her grasp to go use the bathroom early in the morning. And now as she acknowledged you when you approached her with a question.
"Mistress?"
"Hm?" The pen in her hand faltered a bit as it swirled around in neat, perfect cursive. The 'T' she had been in the middle of now had a diagonal line for a top. Lady Dimitrescu didn't say anything though. Her gaze went to the mirror as she looked your reflection in the eyes.
"Um...I know you're busy..." you said as if acknowledging it excused your interruption. "But you've been working all day...."
She said nothing in return. She did not chastise you or scold you, instead her eyes bore into yours as she swallowed, her jaw flexing ever so slightly. The tip of her pen hovered over the paper, threatening to drip ink and ruin the letter.
You twisted and tugged at your fingers out of nerves just barely fighting the urge to crack your knuckles. It seemed that after all this time you had just barely kicked the habit. "I was wondering..." you said softly, looking away from her gaze. Your heart thumped in your chest, and you hoped she couldn't hear how fast it was going. "...Could we...could we take a bath together?"
You only asked for such a thing because she hadn't touched you in nearly two weeks now. Every time you tried to initiate some sort of intimacy with her, she either brushed you off or told you she was busy. It had started to eat away at you. After you two had exchanged the foreign phrase that you could not understand she seemed....distant.
It didn't help that you were struggling to understand your newest revelation. You just wanted to feel her if only for a moment to keep your mind off of the way your heart ached whenever she pulled away from you. "It's Wednesday..." you said, a gentle reminder that she couldn't claim that she had to go to a meeting. She never had meetings on Wednesdays.
"...Yes...it is..." she said after a brief hesitation before she glanced at the analog clock on the far corner of her desk. It read just after seven. She looked down at her paper and then at your reflection in the mirror with an expression that you'd seldom seen before. The last time she looked at you like that she had refused to decipher the foreign language that she spoke, specifically two words.
With a barely noticeable nod she said, "Okay," leaving you sort of pleasantly surprised. You'd expected her to say something about a deadline or some other excuse as to why she couldn't be with you. "...Run the water...I will be there in a minute."
With your heart racing just a bit from anticipation you gave a small nod, turned and headed to the bathroom hearing papers shuffle as you stepped away. While intimacy wasn't promised, you hoped she would hold you or maybe kiss you at the very least.
You fought the urge to look back as you slipped into the bathroom and left the door slightly cracked behind yourself. Alone, the gravity of what you'd done hit you. Never before had you requested that you bathe together. The only time that you shared a bath with her was when she was feeling the urge to take you in the bathroom. You tried to recall the last time that was as you went and turned the faucet on, plugging the tub, but found that it had been so long you could scarcely remember.
As steam rose from the rising water, you reached and looked along the shelf built into the wall just above the tub for the lavender soap. Hopefully she'd be pleased seeing as the possible stress she might've been experiencing seemed to have affected her sex drive. It was unlike her to be so abstinent, and you really wanted her to feel better whether or not that meant touching you.
