My heart was capable of love still. I didn't expect that. Madeline got a toll on me. I cried again. The illusion of her appears again. Right when I reached my fingers for Sophia, the same memory came when I reached my hands for Madeline. I can't live in peace. I'm grieving again. This time not about Madeline, but about Sophia. I left Sophia by herself like how Madeline left me. I'm such a damn coward.
I'm scared to love Sophia because my heart is still interested in Maddie. I understand that Sophia likes me now. I can't be hanging with her much. I need to stop hanging out with Sophia. If I hang with Sophia more my heart with burn and sting. After I reached down to the base level where all the workers parked, I headed towards my car and ignited the engine. I took my mask off when it reached the red light.
Guilt formed down my cheeks and my whole face. Shit. I can't believe it. I miss Madeline and used Sophia as a substitute. I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT. I MISS MADELINE AND USED SOPHIA AS A SUBSTITUTE. I pressed harshly on the brake. My body swung forward but I don't care. I deserved to die. I'm a horrible man. I'm an ex who misses his lover and finds someone that looks like her. Right, I know that is messed up.
I am not over Madeline Windsor and I think that Sophia sensed it. I know she has a brain smarter than mine. I can't help but see parts of her in Sophia. When I parked my car in the garage and headed up the elevator to my penthouse. Abitha meets me at the door instead of Daniel. "Where's Daniel?" I asked. "He's sick sir, I'm doing his shifts for him. The satchel sir," she said. I didn't give it to her. "I got it." I think she knew something was up.
I was at my office and I think I want a good talk. I haven't talked much to Abitha much like a regular human. I trusted Daniel with some of my secrets. I think I should have a conversation with Abitha. I called Abitha into my office. She rushed to the door and closed the door behind her. "Yes sir? You called?" she said. "Have a seat in front of me, this conversation will be long." She sat on one of the chairs that sat across from my desk.
She gulped. I know that feeling when your employees gulp. She thinks that I might fire her. "How's Sophia and her uniform going in the past few weeks?" I asked. "The uniforms are clean as always and Sophia always asks me to give you a thanks," she said. I felt a tension on my face. Of course, she said thank you. "Abitha," I said this time I teared. Abitha looked at me in concern and grabbed the tissue box.
"Why are you so sad?" she said. I felt this guilt and gloominess surging into my stomach. "I will trust you with this information. I would want it a secret between us." I said. Abitha nods. "I'll always listen," she said. I know it feels weird to tell one of your assistants about the past but I needed a good vent. I told her everything about Madeline. Her eyes widen. "Sir I didn't know you dated wasteland girls," she said. "That's what I expected you to say."
"You know Sophia enough. I used her just to get information about Madeline but I went crazy and hurt her instead." I said. She raised one of her eyebrows. "How sir?" she said. "I dressed up in a cloak, she looks so similar to Madeline that I used her as Madeline," I explained. She gulped and sighed. "Do you know if she likes you?" Abitha said. "Yes, she is the one that held my hand first but I ran away like a chicken," I recountered.
Abitha sighed again. "Sir you have messed up. You are not over Madeline and tried to use Sophia as a sweet escape." Abitha blurted. I look at her with some tears. "I already know," I said. "I dealt with a similar experience before. Do you get illusions of your first love when you are near someone who almost looks like them?" she asked. My eyes widen she knows what I am feeling. "Yes?" She sighed once more.
"You need to come to your senses that your ex and Sophia are two different people. Even if Sophia acts a bit like Madeline, you need to get it on your mind that Sophia and Madeline will have different traits." Abitha said. I sighed heavily. "You are right Abitha," I said. "I think Sophia is going to be mad at you for longer. Let time shimmer down, then talk to her, or let her talk to you." Abitha said. I nod.
"Will you keep sending clean uniforms to Sophia and tell me what she says please?" I begged. Abitha snickered. "Of course," she said. She was about to leave the office but I yelled out her name. "What, sir?" she asked. "How do you know about the illusion?" I asked. Abitha's face went solemn. "I had an ex too, but he passed away right in front of me. I love him. He died of a heart attack. Dated another guy that look like him." she said. She closed her eyes.
She sighed and then opened her eyes. "I never told anyone this. That man was evil and was the one who drugged my first love. That's how I know about the illusions because I illusioned this new man as my husband just to find out that the new man will never be the same as my husband." she said. Abitha walked out the door and something knocked me over. Sophia and Madeline will never be the same because they have different lifestyles.
I didn't know what to say. It took me a lot of convincing to tell myself that Sophia and Maddie are two different people. Abitha told me a great lesson. A lesson that could help me forget about Maddie. They are different people, just because they look the same, they won't have the same ending as the other. Deep down you know, one of them will betray you, and the other one stays. Like Maddie left and Sophia cared.
