As they both snuck out of the shed, the Princess scoffed. "The pride that this village had to not even think to lock the doors is ridiculous."

"Yes, but, that pride worked out considerably well in our favor."

A looming large dark shadow slowly started to rise next to Leo near the corner, a presence Ev felt, causing her to scream and punch it. It groaned and she sighed in relief. "Thank the heavens it's only you, Arlo! Where did they take you?"

"Some old trench in the front of the village. I was able to get out and also look," He moved his shoulder that was stabilizing Jasper, "I grabbed him because they thought he couldn't do anything, which I guess, he can't do without me."

Jasper groaned weakly. "Just give me a sword or bow and arrow. I'll show them." He then slumped weakly against his friend.

Evaline gasped when shouts started to be overheard throughout the town. "We have to move! What if, what if I use my powers?"

The General immediately sucked in a breath. Clearly, he was debating with himself. However, this was one of the events where they had no choice and it was a race against time. Then he nodded and immediately Ev took off her hood. Though she was not very fond of her abilities, they truly messed with the wrong girl and therefore she was not afraid to wield them with as much force as possible.

There were no trees, for the village had destroyed them in exchange for their buildings so therefore she could not make use of them. Having little experience was not great either, so what chance did she have that the magic would still be strong? Would only just relying on plain hope and praying to the heavens that she would get this right?

'Lin.' A voice whispered. 'Do not use your mind to run your powers. To protect your friends you must use your heart. Take a breath." Evaline did as she was instructed, taking in a calming breath. 'Feel the wind wrap around you.' The breeze curled her hair and she could feel the energy rush through her veins. The sounds of the villagers were coming closer. 'Ignore your surroundings, child. Let yourself free from those chains of disbelief. Now, fly!'

The Princess's eyes suddenly opened, revealing an incandescent orchid color. It was as if there was a firestorm in them. Mrs. Landford rounded the corner, holding her gun, glaring. Without any hesitation, the woman fired. The bullet soared through the air at an alarming rate yet before it reached Evaline, she reached her hand out. Listening to where the weapon was heading, twigs and leaves intertwined with each other in a mass and seized the piece of lead, instantly crushing it into fragments.

Again and again the woman shot and to which she failed. The other villagers roared with their torches towards the girl, blocking the General from being able to get to her in time. Immediately, she constructed a fire-proof dome made of the same materials, covering her from the wrath of the people. Finally, she let herself free, quickly wrapping the men with her roots as they flailed their arms, their torches extinguishing and dropping to the floor. She tightened the bonds around their waists, anger coursing through her but also the feeling of finally being able to manipulate her potential after so long. 'Just a little more, I just need to crush them just a bit more--'

"Stop, Evaline!" Leo shouted.

She froze. A familiar voice. Turning around, Evaline heard the panic in his voice. She remembered this. Monster. Abnormal. Witch. Grabbing her head, she tried to shake those vicious thoughts from her mind and sank to the ground. Her light slowly died and the remnants of what she had conjured began to disappear and the villagers fell to the floor, unconscious from the lack of air. The General rushed to her, pulled her up, and started to run, almost dragging her to the dock.
