Evaline looked around and felt a breeze coming past her left shoulder. There was probably an open window. Perfect. Holding her hand up high, with a flick of her wrist, she waited.

She felt her eyes glow and suddenly four vines shot through, wrapping around her, and lifting her up. Doing the similar motion again, more plants came through this time on either side of her, intertwining each other in a series of swirls and patterns. Flowers of different variations bloomed and fell from the sky, making the crowd gasp in awe.

Some held out their hands to catch the floral, gazing at the soft, velvety petals in amazement and wonder. Lantern blossoms spread on the ceiling giving the throne room a golden hue.

Everyone started to clap, the sound resounding the hall. She could not stop, however. The thrill of making something beautiful and having her abilities there for the enjoyment of others made her want to continue for eternity.

The plants kept coming, the flowers kept blooming, and the claps kept clapping.

Once again, she heard the voice. It was the General. It was time to end her fears, her questions, the confusing thoughts clouding every part of her mind. In a split second, a vine wrapped around the handle of the King's sword and swung to her hand.

Stepping forward, Evaline pointed it at Leo's neck. "You know everything."

Hands raised, he replied confused, "Pardon?"

"You knew about the extent of my powers. Why were you meeting with the Queen? Did you have something to do with that day?"

He was quiet. Silence always meant something.

"Were you using me?" Ev whispered.

After a moment's hesitance, he replied, "Yes, I was."

The grip on the weapon slightly loosened and Leo took the opportunity to take his own blade and clash it against hers. "Whilst I would never dare to brandish my sword against a Royal...I do have to protect myself."

"You bastard!" The Princess flung her sword repeatedly against his, not caring about skill. "I trusted you!" Tears brimmed her eyes but she refused to let them fall.

"And I you. However, I did not get to finish my sentence. I was using you before the Queen died and she knew it. Can we please talk in a civil manner?"

Ev narrowed her eyes, "We are beyond diplomacy now. Tell me what you were planning. Right here, right now."

"My father is missing. They said a Siren clawed him down underneath the water's depths but that was not true. Only your powers could help seek far and wide across the land. This is why I met with your Mother on numerous occasions. She knew what I was asking for."

The Princess pushed his sword down and brought her blade against his throat, "Then?"

"When we were looking more into the Starlings' powers, we could not find much on the purple. Your Mother claimed you would be the answer to not only my questions but to everyone's problems. This was one of the advantages of your abilities. However..." He sighed, "She may have investigated too closely. When experimenting, your powers seemed to have lept out of control, therefore... eliminating her in the process. The Queen has mentioned before that you were like a Belladonna, a flower so beautiful, yet so dangerous."

A Belladonna. "Did you find your father?"

Leo looked to the ground, "No, I did not."

Dropping her sword, Evaline rushed over and wrapped her arms around his neck, "I'm sorry I did not trust you. I was scared."

"You had every right to be," He whispered, hugging her tight right back.

After a moment, she chuckled, "We're being stared at by everyone aren't we?"

"No not every-, Oh, yes now everyone."

Sovanna came into view, clapping her hands slowly, "Oh and at first I thought these parties were going to be a bore yet you proved me so wrong. Now, why is everyone looking with their jaws almost to the floor? Flies are going to get in the longer you look! Get back to your wine-drinking and twirling." She sighed and chugged her drink as the crowd began to disperse, "Really, what a show you two put on."

Smiling at her, Evaline said, "Thank you."

The girl shrugged, "I did nothing, Sister. But I do have a request. I need to get back to my homeland. I must be prepared and then start a war on the bastards who locked me up for years."

"Leaving so soon, yellow birdy?" Reuben asked, walking towards the group.

"Oh my, my, will you miss me?" Sovanna batted her eyelashes rapidly.

"Never. I was just on my way to prepare your ship and belongings."

She rolled her eyes, "Ha. Ha. Well, I truly do have to go." Giving Evaline a hug, she said, "You will do well in this land, Sister. Teach them what a Starling is and the stunning possibilities that come with your potential. And as always?"

"I'll listen to my heart." Ev firmly nodded her head.

"Brilliant! Now come, Mr. King. Let's explore the wine table." Sov dragged Reuben off who was casting daggers at Leo.

Evaline pulled Leo into a dark corner and smirked at him, "Should I punish you for holding a weapon against a Royal?"

"Might I say this as I stated before, it was for self-defense." He responded, putting a hand against her cheek, "However, I suppose I would not mind if it was you running a sword through me."

"Really?"

"Really. So please, punish me."

"Yes, General." The Princess stood on her tiptoes and claimed his lips with her own. It felt different than the last time, for they were not pretending. It was not a cover. This was true. And my, did that feel much better.

Her heart was pounding like a thousand tiny drums inside her chest, almost afraid to keep going. Would he reject her? She felt his hands trail down the curves of her hips as he pushed her against the wall, away from the sight of any person. 'I suppose not.'

It was just as she remembered; his lips were warm and soft as they brushed lightly against her own. Sliding his tongue against the seam of her lips, she opened and allowed him to take control. 'Oh my, so this how- oh!'

She reached up to the back of his hair and tugged slowly, invoking a groan from him, vibrating through their kiss. Clearly, he enjoyed it for he kissed her with more passion. The voices around them blurred and soon faded. It was just her and her General. Her four senses seemed to have heightened.

Whispering in her ear, Leo muttered lowly, "If I don't stop now, I may just take you here in front of all these people."

Confused, Ev whispered, "Take me where-?" 'Oh. Oh! No, most certainly not.'

Stepping away from him, she knew she was extremely disheveled. Fumbling, she smoothed down her dress and attempted to tuck the stray curls that had gotten out of her hairstyle back into place. When she heard rustling, Ev assumed he was doing the same thing.

As they both stood there quietly, a thought crossed her mind that she wanted his opinion on.

"My blindness..."

"Does not matter. It is just a part of you and you are able to overcome it in astonishing ways." Leo confidently cut in.

Evaline raised her eyebrows. "But I was not going to say that. Wait, you truly mean that?"

Taking her hand in his, he pressed a butterfly kiss to it. "With all my heart."

"I suppose in a way...I was born to be blind."
