Soon, Evaline came up to Jasper who was leaning on the railing. "So, Sir Jasper, I do have to ask this; What is your appearance so I can envision what you look like?"

"My appearance?"

"Yes. Oh, and of course, you can always be creative and make up anything too." She chuckled.

He smiled, "Well your Highness, you can make a better portrait in your mind by using your hands." Taking both of her hands he gently put them on his cheeks and slid them down to his chin.

"Hm. Well, you have high cheekbones, somewhat of an oval face, and cropped hair. What color are your eyes and hair?"

"My eyes are green and my hair is blonde. My skin is cream-colored."

She kept her hands on his face, "I haven't used my hands to know what someone looks like before. This is so new."

All of a sudden, she was ripped away from Jasper and soon Leo's voice yelled out, "What do you think you're doing with the Princess, soldier?"

Evaline stepped in front of both of them and looked up at him. "General, I was just learning what he looks like. I've never done that before, ever."

There was a brief silence until he finally said, "Visualize me."

"W-what?"

"Feel my face; what I look like."

Somewhat confused, she replied, "Oh, okay." Slowly, Ev put both of her hands out on his face, feeling the different curves. "You have a taller, more chiseled diamond face shape." Her fingertips graced pieces of his hair and she rolled her eyes. "Very messy hair. What color are your hair, eyes, and skin?"

He chuckled and said, "My hair is brown, my eyes are light blue, and I have tan skin."

So, his appearance never followed protocol but his personality did, which infuriated her. However, the General was, indeed, quite handsome just as she expected from the giggles of the noble ladies as he passed by. He certainly changed from when he was younger.

"So?"

"Pardon?"

"What do you think?" He asked.

She crossed her arms and said spitefully, "Clearly the most ugly wretched thing to exist."

Jasper snickered but immediately closed his mouth when the General gave him a frosty glare before stomping off to go fix the ropes. The princess smiled to herself and turned to the sea. Listening intensely, she heard the rushing sound of water and not the ones that the waves had been making so far. Leaning closer and closer, she almost fell off the edge from the excitement.

Running to the base of the crow's nest, she shouted up to Arlo, "Northwest! Do you see the waterfall there?"

He was quiet before he yelled back, "Yes! Turn the ship, Jasp! We found our first destination."

Evaline was ecstatic that they had gotten to their location so rapidly on just the first day. The feeling of sudden fear also overwhelmed her too. This place led to many caverns and hidden lands. It was easy to discover the gate to the Covered Lakes but difficult to open. Even if it was found, it led to unexplainable disappearances of the various sailors who traveled far.

Soon the anchor was let down and a rowboat was sent with Leo, Ev, and Arlo to go ashore and scout the island, making sure to bring essentials with them to spend the night in case they didn't make it back by then. It seemed as though Jasper was purposely assigned to stay on the ship even after she had very little contact with him.

Once her feet hit the ground, a sudden gust of wind blew around her, breaking through the still silence, and playing with the curls of her hair. They walked towards where the pool of water was filling up.

"Do you hear that? It must be sparkling." Evaline breathed.

"Careful, Princess. Don't fall in." However the General was indeed in awe as well. It was as if aqua, jade, and silver jewels were being sent down in the waterfall into the pool.

Arlo glanced around at the surrounding large stone walls and small trees. "I don't see anything that would really be open to a gate."

Ev started to walk around, pressing her hands against the stone walls and pushing firmly, doing this in various places. There was a sudden rumbling sound when a piece of rock caved in. She stumbled back as the waterfall parted in two.

Leo grabbed her hand, pulling her up. "Hurry! How long will that stay apart?"

"Not long! Only a couple min--"

Another rumbling sound started. Only this time, was it followed by multiple thumps, making the ground shake. An ogre, the height of the waterfall, appeared. Its muscles looked as if they could crush anything at the slightest touch. Sharp green glass was impaled in its light blue cracked skin and its yellow eyes stared venomously at the three. It roared, its breath blowing back every tree in the valley.

"Holy--" Arlo cursed, quickly drawing his sword out.

"What? What is it?" Evaline asked, looking back and forth at the two voices, then at the sound.

The General slowly brought out his sword, unable to fathom what type of creature this was. Sure, he had dealt with strange ones, but this was a different level. "Princess, on the count of the three, I want you to run the other way."

"But why?!" She asked, more persistent. Now she could hear the sound of weapons being drawn. What were they facing?

"Evaline! Just do it!"

She blinked rapidly in confusion. He very rarely addressed her by her name. Turning the other way, she waited for the countdown. When Leo reached the last number, she lifted up her skirts and dashed off, praying that she didn't trip on rocks. The sound of metal clashing with glass resounded in her ears. Water suddenly seeped through her boots and brown roots lay under her. She was near a tree!

Looking back at the yells of the men fighting with the beast she then turned back to the dark brown twisting root. Kneeling down, she took a breath and her hands started to tremble.

Soon, Princess Evaline started to sing.
