[Authors POV]

Sakusa stood over Atsumu and watched as the blond slept peacefully in his bed. The way his lashes fluttered slightly as Sakusa ran his fingers through the golden locks and brushed them away from his face. The warmth of the ambient silence was there, and yet Sakusa could feel nothing but cold as his eyes lingered some more on the blond's reddened and puffy ones.

Slowly he inched forward to kiss the top of Atsumu's forehead; lips lingering for a much longer time than he thought he would be able to last before finally pulling away and not actually planting them. It felt like a punishment, but one that Sakusa felt like he deserved. He knew he did not deserve the blond.

"Please forgive me."

Atsumu stirred in his sleep but made no attempt to wake at the feeling of the other lingering around him. Sakusa somewhere in his mind wished time would have stopped right there. He wished his nightmare would end, and yet, the identifying ping on his phone alerted him to what was going to happen. Slowly he backed away and gave Atsumu one more glance before stepping out and leaving his apartment into the cold of the night.

Being outside made no difference as to what Sakusa felt. The cold wind did not chill his body or mind and it was as if he was moving on instinct and not free will. The harsh feeling of reality only came to him when a fist came in his direction and landed a blow directly on his jaw.

"Osamu no!!"

Sakusa did not even attempt to stop the next blow that came and felt the pain passing through his lip as it was busted. Komori and Suna on the other hand tried to restrain Osamu who had nothing but rage and tears brimming in the corners of his eyes. He clawed at Sakusa's collar and pushed him back before slamming him against the hard cement walls of the apartment complex.

"Let him go Osamu, please, think about Tsumu," Suna yelled out as he tugged and tried his hardest to pull him back. Osamu finally managed to catch Sakusa's gaze and his eyes widened. Sakusa had nothing but cold in them as he stared back and held back so many emotions. That cold shell and demeanor he usually held with anyone and the outside public completely overtook his whole being. Osamu stared at him and frowned once more in discontent after realizing that Sakusa was not going to fight back. He believed the man to be selfish and with a heart as cold as ice.

"You hurt him," was all he could mutter at the moment when things seemed to stop around them. Sakusa never spoke up to his own defense and watched as Osamu's grip loosened on him. Komori who was on Osamu's left side looked at his cousin incredulously but did not say anything before tugging Osamu away and leading him along with Suna inside the building, leaving Sakusa alone in the cold of the night with his thoughts. Bleeding not only from the cuts on his skin but the wound in his heart as well.

Atsumu wasn't the only one broken in this situation.

Shortly after, Atsumu emerged from the complex being held by his brother. There was the distinct sound of him crying once more as he was tugged away and practically forced by his brother to follow him to the car waiting outside. His teary eyes would briefly meet Sakusa's as he made eye contact. Though his eyes would widen to the extent of his injuries. He forcefully shoved everyone away before running up to the man and placing his fingers on the bloodied lips.

"O-Omi? Are you okay," he muttered. The man didn't respond and instead stared back down at the blond. His cold gaze never left the blond's mind. Even as Sakusa removed his hands and walked past him in silence. Atsumu could feel it, the distant and frigid atmosphere lingering around the other as he left him in the dead of the night with his own thoughts and feelings. The rejection of the other and the coldness radiating from that gaze.
