"I love you, and I don't know how to feel about it. I hate that I even love you as much as I do."
Sakusa stared down wordlessly and wide-eyed at the blond. His mouth opened and closed, but no words came out at all. After all, he was still stunned by Atsumu's latest revelation and did not know what to say about it. Yes, it made him happy that Atsumu was indeed feeling the same way, but the situation at the moment was not at all optimal.
Atsumu on the other hand stared at the other wide-eyed. His words hung suspended in the air, a confession laid bare in the quiet space between them. The realization of his own declaration dawned on him like a sudden storm, and panic bloomed in his chest, a wild thing clawing its way up his throat.
"I—I'm sorry, I shouldn't have— Please, forget I said anything," Atsumu stammered quickly, his voice a frantic whisper as he moved away from Sakusa slightly and began to run towards the front door, every muscle tensed as a fight or flight response.
But Sakusa moved faster, his hand catching Atsumu's wrist with a gentle firmness. "Wait," he urged, his voice a soft command that filled the room and stilled Atsumu's agitated heart.
Then the apologies tumbled out, a waterfall of shame and fear that Atsumu held, but Sakusa's eyes held none of the rejection Atsumu dreaded. Instead, there was something else, something warm and terrifyingly tender. And with a swift motion, Sakusa pulled Atsumu towards himself to close the distance, his lips pressing against Atsumu's in a frantic and possessive kiss.
Stunned into silence, Atsumu's thoughts scattered like leaves in the wind. He clenched his eyes shut for a moment, trying to take in every feeling he was getting from it all. However, there was only such a short amount of time that he could hold his breath, and Sakusa pulled back just enough to whisper the truth that had been hidden in his heart, "I feel the same, Atsumu." His voice had a firm and confident tone.
At that moment, Atsumu stared at him wide-eyed. His lips parted to say something, but nothing succeeded in getting past his shocked state.
"O-Omi," he muttered.
He wanted to find that dejection somewhere in his face. Just something to give him the opportunity to run away from the situation he had created himself and wallow in his room in shame. Yet, Sakusa stood there, holding him close after kissing him so passionately and confessing that he too had feelings for the blond. It was shocking, to say the least, and Atsumu did not know where to go from there. His eyes remained on the other, and the firm gaze he received back made his heart beat rapidly against his chest. The butterflies in his stomach made Atsumu want to throw up.
Suddenly, however, Sakusa spoke up. His voice was quiet yet firm which made Atsumu flinch a bit.
"How long?"
Atsumu furrowed his brows and tilted his head in confusion. "What are you-"
"How long have you been feeling like this, Atsu?" He said, now clarifying the question to Atsumu who visibly tensed and looked down. Wondering if he should actually tell him or lie to keep his dignity intact. Sakusa was not going to let him run away without an answer though and lightly put a finger under Atsumu's chin, lifting it up slightly to make him meet his firm gaze.
"A- A couple of months," Atsumu stuttered. His cheeks flushed a light shade of pink.
Sakusa nodded. He was thinking about something then ducked his head down and rested it on Atsumu's shoulder. A long sigh exited his mouth and warmed Atsumu's shoulder just slightly. His arms were now moving to wrap around the blond's waist tightly.
