The Big Apple, New York

I wouldn't say that I consider myself as a true New Yorker, yes I've lived here all my life with my sisters: Jackie and Lucy, but I always felt out of place, they had each other, they were perfect, the ideal daughters with good grades and over achievements
And then there is me, my grades are good enough not to fail, and I like to achieve what I can, but I try to keep it chill

Today was the Annual Spring Break Charity Mixer that our academy liked to do, this year Jackie was in charge to organize it. Honestly, I was just there for the good music and food
And give her moral support.

As Jackie and I walked into the room, we could see that this was going to be the best night ever. People were dancing, taking pictures and over all having a good time. I glazed at Jackie and felt so proud of her, she works so much I literally don't know how she does it all

"Has mom or Lucy texted you?" Jackie asks, looking from her
phone to mine

"No, a while ago mom checked in saying they would be here soon." I replied

Jackie had this thing where she said she was fine, when clearly she is just bottling it all up
As an aspiring psych major, I know that cant be healthy

I separated from her, to continue to attempt contacting our parents and sister, glancing at Jackie, she was talking with another girl about caterers, canapés, or something like that.

Why can't we have something delicious for once, onetime I ditched to go to this deli in Lower East Side where they make the best chopped cheese. I did get in trouble, but it was totally worth it.

As I was about to return to Jackie, I see her walking out with our uncle Richard

Suddenly Jackie's smile fades and my chest ached, afraid that something bad had happened

.....................

The flight to Colorado was quiet, it was awkward between us, neither of us uttered a single word throughout the whole flight, I knew we were different and almost never hanged out but as a sister I wanted to be together in this difficult journey

When we arrived, we each got a trolley to take our stuff and wait for the Walters to arrive, taking in the surrounding i liked it, there was so much greenery unlike in the city

As I searched to see if the Walters had arrived, Jackie received a call from our uncle

"Was the flight okay?" uncle Richard asked

" it was fine" Jackie and I replied simultaneously

"You guys doing ok?" he asked with a hint of worry in his face

Seconds passed as if we were trying to find the right words to say to not worry him more, but all that came out was

"Yep" from Jackie, but I stayed silent I wanted to say I was fine, but the words wouldn't come out

"Listen guys, I'm sorry I couldn't come with you to meet the Walters," Uncle Richard spoke but was soon interrupted once I Nudged Jackie, we both looked ahead and saw a couple rushing through the doors

"I think we see them, we better go." Jackie said in a hurry

"Jackie, I know this is a big change, keep your head up. I'm here whenever you need me. Alright text me later" he said

Jackie hanged up the call
Seeing as the Walters were already approaching us,

"Jackie" Katherine breathed as she approached my sister and embraced her in an awkward but yet welcoming hug

" I'm so happy you are here" she stated in the embrace that seemed to last forever

"Thanks Katherine" Jackie said with a smile on her face, one I haven't seen in a while
Releasing from the embrace, Katherine turned to me and did the same.
................................................
The car ride was nice, no conversation was made since no one wants to have the

your parents just died conversation with us.

Looking out the window made me remember the late night car rides I used to have with our mother, almost making me cry. I focused my attention on Jackie that was on her phone.

It had been 6 months since our parents had passed, but it felt like it was just yesterday that it happened which is ironic since every day feels eternal without them here

Getting lost in my thoughts I didn't even noticed we had already arrived

Surrounded by beautiful trees the scenery was so much different

Stepping out of the car, we stopped and admired the home

" you guys alright?" Katherine asked

"We're fine" Jackie responded

"Let's get you guys inside. We'll introduce you to everybody"

she smiled walking towards the house

I don't know how to feel about this chapter but I think I did my best hope you guys liked this first chapter because there's more to come
