King Edmund Pevensie
Erendehill, 2313
No one had dared to say the words to him the entire journey here. Nine years prior when the plot was chosen by Lord Glozelle, a pit in his stomach opened. One he'd long since learned to ignore. Once he had left the room, his siblings had looked to him warily which was broken by Caspian asking confusedly what had shifted the atmosphere as much as it did. To him, it was just a plot to build a castle. To Edmund, it was practically the exact spot the White Witch's castle had been. Somewhere where he'd been kept captive, beaten, starved, tortured, and had almost willingly gotten them all killed.
He'd long since forgiven himself of what he had done. After all, he was a boy of thirteen. An angry little boy who had lost two uncles in a war, a father off fighting in said war and not knowing if he would come back alive, had witnessed his friends bodies being in pieces from bombings around Finchley. Finally snapping when Peter had unintentionally took over the role as the head of the family and he did not like this at all. It should've been their father being the head of the family, not his brother who was only three years older than he himself was.
When confirmation had come that the castle had finally finished completion, Susan had come to him and said he did not need to come with them if he wished. As had Shorana. Yet he was a King even if he was not actively ruling anymore, and it was custom for the ruler or in their case rulers to greet the family into their newest Seat. It was strange to say the least. In their first reign he had deliberately chosen not to go anywhere close to where Jadis' castle had been, always opting to go around it even if the castle had melted when the curse of the hundred year winter was broken to be replaced with summer. It might not have been there physically, but it was there every time he looked.
The many towers, the ice bridge over a gorge which had once housed a river that was now completely frozen over, the trees surrounding it, it was all he saw. It only took a couple of days to travel from Telmarison to Erendehill and the entire journey he had been preparing himself for it. This was the first time he had stepped foot anywhere near this area in Narnia for twenty-six years. It did not feel like that at all, especially because his current body was twenty-five and that should not be possible. Yet it was, due to a disparage of time between Earth and Planetos. Lucy had noticed his unease, as had Shorana, and both had stepped in without speaking so much as a word to try and ease him as much as they could.
He was lucky, to have been betrothed to someone who just understood him. He'd not been pleased in the slightest when Caspian had brought up that her uncle wanted her to be their hostage as a show of good faith, and he'd been less pleased when it was agreed upon. No one deserved to be a hostage as repentance and he had said instead of her being a hostage, he would betroth himself to her. It was something a ruler just needed to do at times, make sacrifices as such. At least he was not alone with such a thing, for Susan was betrothed to a man she had never even met at the time. For a long time, they had assumed Susan and Caspian would end up together for they were not as secretive as they assumed themselves to be with their looks to one another. Whatever had happened between them had ended amicably at least, for it would not be good for them to be at each others throats when everything was so messy after their decision to remain.
Lady Shorana was the only remaining child of Lord Sopespian and Lady Aurelia. Having lost her two brothers on the battlefield. Her mother had died when she was young from a burst belly as they called it- a ruptured appendix to him though. Not a good way to go, especially because there wasn't much as far as Narnian or Telmarine medicine which could help with such a thing. If he was in her position, he would've put her out of her misery quickly and painlessly. Give her a poison which was tasteless and odourless and let her go in peace. Lord Sopespian had not done so, instead leaving his wife writhing in agony for days before she succumbed.
