Queen Susan Pevensie
Telmarison, 2313
It was a day that was long awaited, and yet it was one she could honestly say she did not expect to happen. Whilst true her little brother had grown incredibly fond of his betrothed as had she grown fond of her little brother, the timing of it all was strange. Or perhaps it was due to herself, Peter, and Caspian all having relatively short betrothals. Mayhaps in England it wouldn't have been such an issue, one of her closest friends parents were engaged for more than two years before they married one another.
At first, it was expected. Shorana had only just turned thirteen when the betrothal had been agreed upon whereas Edmund was nearing sixteen again in physicality. Yet the moment she had turned eighteen there still had not been an agreed date. It was something they had no choice but to work hard on to quash as rumours began spreading that it was simply a placeholder to keep the Telmarine's in line with the Narnian's. Many seeing the lack of showmanship on the matter as a sign that things weren't as peaceful as all seemed. It was one of the reasons her own marriage had been so quick, because with it they secured Archenland fully once more which provided even more security to Narnia.
Yet today was the day.
Walking around with Lady Elenda discussing all the decorations that were being put up and why they were being put up the way they were, to what had been planned for the ceremony itself, to everything that would happen afterwards. Telmarine weddings were always large affairs but never outdoors, Narnian weddings were even larger affairs and were never held indoors. That had caused a lot of tension considering Peter had opted to have a wholly Telmarine ceremony. Eventually agreeing the vows and proclamations would be made indoors but everything else would be held outdoors.
Invites had gone far and wide. Guests had arrived from Galma and Terebinthia a few days prior, more Archenland nobles arrived over the week, and unsurprisingly no one from Calormen had arrived. Although she had to concede with the courteous reply from the Tisroc and behalf of himself and his eight wives. She'd been a prisoner of Calormen before, as had Edmund funnily enough, but that had been so long ago now. Personal matters could never intermix with political matters for that was where issues often arose.
"Where are the other Ladies of Arison, Lady Elenda?"
She asked, noticing then that she had yet to see either of the three. Over the last few weeks they had been busier than normal, and it was not a secret all loved every part of it. For people who were known for their reclusive nature, they certainly knew how to throw a party when required.
"Ophelia and Leoni are arranging everything outdoors, your Majesty. Last I heard, Lady Teresmia was helping with the feast."
Susan nodded at the words, knowing exactly where the other three would be. Entering the grand ballroom of Telmarison and having to stop her eyes widening. A part of her expecting to see more Telmarine décor, yet there was precious little of it. Numerous banners of multiple shades of red with golden tassels hanging from the balcony, golden sculptures of lions dotted around, a section cordoned off in the back corner for the musicians who were currently preparing with Narnian flutes. In fact, the only thing she could see that wasn't wholly Narnian was the tapestry depiction near the dais where it would all happen of Tarva and Alambil coming together as one.
Telmarine's worshipped the stars, believing each star to have broken off of the sun and each individual one meant something. Tarva was the god of war, whereas Alambil was the god of peace. It was said that when the two met in the sky even if it was every couple of hundred years, it would signal a time of prosperity. As far as weddings went, it was seen as a blessing for the pair to have a healthy life ahead. Spotting Elara then as she split off from Elenda who began barking orders at the servants on how things should sit and how everything must be absolutely perfect.
