Italy and I have been living in our cozy apartment for a few months now, I'd grown accustomed to the rhythm of city and NHL life. So when a gentle knock echoed through the hallway one sunny morning, I wasn't expecting the surprise awaiting me at the door.
"Hi! I'm Dani, your new neighbor. I baked some cookies and thought you might like some?" the woman introduced herself with a warm smile as she handed a tray to me.
"Hey, I'm Quince. Welcome to the building, Dani! Thank you for the cookies." I replied, returning the smile.
Dani's eyes sparkled with gratitude. "I'm still getting settled in, but everyone seems really friendly so far."
Eager to make Dani feel at home, I suggested, "I was just about to head out for a coffee. Would you like to join me? It's a great way to explore the neighborhood."
Dani's face lit up at the invitation. "I'd love to! That sounds perfect."
Together, we ventured out into the bustling streets, with me leading the way, excited to show Dani around. At the café, we settled into a cozy corner booth, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wrapping us in comfort.
Over steaming cups of coffee, Dani and I shared stories about our lives, discovering common interests and aspirations. I learned that Dani was a recent transplant to the city, chasing her dreams of starting anew. As I listened to her tales of adventure, I couldn't help but feel inspired by her courage.

The sound of a knock interrupted the lively game of Uno being played by the group of boys sitting on the ground. Luke, who was seated between my legs, asked, "Who could that be?"
Realizing that it was Dani at the door, I quickly got up and said, "It's Dani, I'll get it." As I made my way towards the door a sharp stabbing pain shoots throw my chest.
