"Mother Mary," he opened his arms as she walked through the Ile, "How good it is to see you." The woman could be beautiful, she had grey eyes, but with that melancholy look that he loved. She walked as if something heavy was on her shoulders, oh yes, the heaviness of a failed marriage. How light it is when the lamb seeks shelter in the wolf's lap? "You asked for me Father?" she looked at the floor, not daring to look at him, ever since he had helped her with the baby, she had this shame, and he tasted it all, like a delicious dessert, made just for him. "You do not have to call me Father, you can call me Ansel. But only you," he gave her a warm smile, she looked at him and gave him a shy one. "I have something to tell you, Mother Mary. Oh, don't look at me like that, you don't have to worry about everything, trust me. Trust in the power of God, I am just like you. The only difference is that God speaks through me, Mary. You see, you know that I need to take care of Eve, I see her as our little miracle, like a daughter. Mary, this madness that she can't set foot in the house of God, why is that? She must join us, become one with Thee. Come here and hold my hand, oh my beloved, do not cry. I had this revelation while praying that a deep evil is trying to take our Eve, I am as worried as you are, but here she will be safe. You don't want her to be baptized and I agree, but we have to protect our little lamb. Let's do that, Monday's the Day that He made the Earth, I will pray with her. Oh no, no need for you to stay, I know Richard will be worried if you spend all night here with us. You are still a wife, do not forget that." Of course, the man wanted Eve baptized, but he couldn't stand looking at her all wet, in just that white dress showing her beautiful body. "So it's settled, she'll be here on Monday. Mary, you have such gorgeous eyes. I never realized it. Let me take a look at this." He kissed Mary, tasting the victory as if he were a puppet master playing God himself.

"Everybody out. She fainted, get her some room." noise of the door closing. "Oh my Lord, help me. Eve? Eve, can you hear me?" Silence. "Father? What is going on? Where I am?" a giggling. "Eve, we are at the church's basement, your mother came running because you were speaking in tongues." Silence again "but you already know it demon." "Father Loyd or whatever is your name, let's talk about you. Enough talking about me." "Begone Demon, leave poor Eve alone, she is a good Christian girl..." "And you Father Loyd, you are not a good Christian are you? Good Christians don't tie down little girls in the church basement YOU FREAK." "SHUT UP DEMON, THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!" A laughter. "The power of Christ can kiss my ass, SHUT UP FATHER LET ME TALK." Silence. "Thank you, I am going to tell you how this is going to work and you will shut your filthy mouth." Silence. "You see, a long time ago I was killed on this ground. You made the terrible mistake to deliver a child on this grounds, the first child born here is promised to me by the Dark Lord. You have two options here Father: LET ME DO WHAT I NEED TO DO AND SET ME FREE or I will leave these chains, and burn this village to the ground but before I do all this I am going to tell every one of your precious lambs how you like to perform unholy acts on little girls. What do you choose?" "Whatever you wish, demon." "STOP CALLING ME DEMON I HAVE A NAME." "What is your name?" "Ella." End of tape.

Years passed, twenty years passed after all that mess. He had helped the police before so it wasn't a shock when the first email arrived. The TV was on and the news was passing, another building catching fire in the city, big news, until he heard her name. She was finally dead, or was she? The old computer with that blinking light, the dizziness when he read that the body was still missing. Could've she escape the fire? The man was reading the pages and praying that his past wouldn't come back to bite him in the ass. The diary was Eve's, the first baby he delivered inside a chapel, the first woman he loved, the first seed. He wasn't a doctor then, he had graduated from the seminary some years before, and it would take years until he became a doctor. The second email arrived when he was reading one of the pages, trying to identify what she had written when the bell rang, a delivery from the post office. He read the email not believing she found the tape. He opened the package with trembling hands, he thought so hard all those years to forget that night, forget Ella, and it was all in vain. The old man looked at his work table, full of papers, coffee mugs, and dirty dishes, he never cleaned it because it was easier to get a new one, and found what he was looking for. A recorder, he kept it all those years, hoping he would use it again. He set the tape in the recorder and hit play.
