Chapter 13 - 'A Friendship's End'

"...Moon told me to..." said Sun in reply to Eclipse asking him why he jumped off of the balcony within the daycare.

Eclipse was shocked...

...but he eventually became furious.

He had given Moon plenty of warnings... but this was the last straw!

He wanted to punish Moon in some way, but he couldn't now that turning off the lights was prohibited in the daycare.

He gave Sun a hug and he began to cry a little.

"Sun... your brother will pay for this one day..." he said, through his quiet sobs.

A month had passed, and now the daycare was reopened with more powerful lights.

As Sun was greeting the kids again, he saw Taiyoko, crying and holding a piece of folded-up paper in one of her hands.

"Taiyoko?... What's wrong?" he asked, worried.

Taiyoko sniffled as she handed Sun the paper.

Sun unfolded the paper, and there he found a picture that broke his heart.

He saw Taiyoko crying in it, along with himself looking depressed, with blood on both his hands and on the ground around him and in the background there was a broken heart. It was stained with Taiyoko's tears, and that was indicated by how crumpled up it looked in some areas.

After a few seconds, Sun put two and two together as to why she drew this. "...Are you sad because Moon killed your sister...?" he asked, worried.

Taiyoko just looked at Sun with even more of a sad look and broke down sobbing.

Sun tried to calm her down as he tried explaining that it wasn't Moon's fault, but it was because of a glitch that caused him to be a killer.

Taiyoko stopped crying as she then said, "Tsukita is dead... and I see no reason to keep loving you if you're related to a killer..."

As Taiyoko said "killer", that really struck a nerve in Sun. He remembered when Moon wasn't so hostile and was instead a soothing soul.

He remembered when Moon was so gentle and calming, and never wanted to kill anyone. Whenever the kids wouldn't go to sleep, Moon would do shadow puppets to entertain them and even sing lullabies for them. He seemed like the perfect naptime caretaker...

...but now that this glitch was corrupting him, that whole thing was now gone... and there was no guarantee of it coming back.

Sun sighed. "I'm sorry, Taiyoko... but it wasn't Moon's fault... it was that stupid glitch..." he said, pensively.

Taiyoko sniffled. "Well my mommy said that if Moon killed my sister... then I can't see you or Eclipse anymore..." she said, about to cry again.

Sun then felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if he were heartbroken.

Taiyoko handed Sun the drawing and turned the other direction to see her mother standing by the Pizzaplex exit.

"I'm sorry... but I can't come back here if your brother killed my sister..." she said, sadly.

Before she left to go with her mother, Taiyoko said a phrase that would forever haunt Sun whenever a close friend of his left the daycare because of Moon or even himself.

"Goodbye, Sunny..."
