THIRTEEN: In Control

Chapter 13

"Beep!" I hear a voice. "Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! BEEP! BEEEEP! BEEEEEEEEP!"

"Argh!" I raised myself up and out of my own bed ready to brandish the person that was waking me up from my deep sleep. But instead my head collided with some else's and I fell back down on my bed. "Ouch! Who the hell―"

I finally opened my eyes to the full brightness of my room and saw a short, red head girl rubbing her temple and scowling at me.

"What do you want CAT?" I crossed my arms and glared at her. "This better be good. Waking Jade up from a fitful sleep is not the right thing to do. JADE NEEDS SLEEP!"

"Um... Maybe I'll come back later? And stop speaking in third person."

I smiled and cracked up laughing. "I was just joking! Fire away."

"Seriously girl?" CAT shook her head at me. "Well, since we're basically the only two teenage girls... I wondering if you would like to have a sleepover over at my place tonight."

"Sure! Straight after dinner?"

"Awesome! I have a thing for you." She skipped over to my wide bed head. I turned and saw a tray of food lying on the table. "Everyone's already finished breakfast so I brought you a light brunch just to fill your stomach up for the day."

"Thanks!" I stuffed some waffles in my mouth. "You can sit down."

"Oh no, I have to go."

"Where to?"

"Matt's giving me another 'beginner' study session about Elementhunters." She made a disgusted face.

"Ha! I remember those." I recall. "Have fun."

"Bye!" She skipped out my bedroom door.

After finishing my brunch and getting ready to watch the four adults use their advanced powers I headed down to the library and met Charlotte, Helen, Mich and Billy.

"You ready?" Charlotte asked.

"Very." I smiled at her.

Charlotte, Helen, Mich, Billy and I stepped out of the elevator onto a nice tropical forest landscape, with a small river running from east to west, nice tall trees and a big clearing on my right. Billy led us into that clearing and they starting their ceremony of powers.

"Let's begin." Charlotte spoke. "Billy, go ahead."

Whoosh. I heard a noise above me and craned my neck upwards to see that a cloud had formed overhead.

"My turn." Charlotte giggled like a school girl.

She put both of her hands out, the palms facing the floor and wiggled her fingers around. Suddenly fat droplets of water came falling down onto me and I cried out.

"Hey! Stop it."

Charlotte only smiled as Billy twisted his hand, the sound of thunder came roaring. Helen slammed her hand down and a lightning strike the ground less than a metre away from me.

"AH!" I squealed.

"Remember, we're in control Jade." Helen reminded me as the thunder continued on. "Don't be afraid."

By now I was completely drenched. Suddenly the ground was shaking and I looked up to see Mich's hands trembling, facing towards the ground; forming an earthquake.

I was completely stunned by all of this. It was absolutely amazing.

With a twist of all their hands the thunder, rain, and everything else was back to normal. Well, except for the fact that I was still completely wet and freezing.

"Um, guys. I'm a little cold here." I called out.

They start laughing until I feel a slight warm feeling ripple throughout my body.

"Thanks, Helen." I smiled at her.

"How did you like that?" Mich asked.

"It was awesome!" I cried.

"How about more?" Charlotte twinkled her fingers.

"Uh..." I shook my head. "Maybe not? I think we should head back now anyway. It's getting dark."
