Aether and Lumine walked the empty halls of their regime palace to their parents graves. Isolated and in a crystallised dome, that glows in the night, inteyvats in a looping stage of rebirth and death outside. When they opened the dome's door, petals from the roof gently fell down on the floor. Beautiful murals of their great endeavours on the stained glass, and their bodies in white pristine caskets. Seeing such beauty every time the twins visit thheir parent's grave almost makes them forget that they're dead— but only for a moment.
The king and Queen's
disfigured and inhumane bodies lay inside
The pristine white caskets.
Almost as if these monsters don't deserve to be
In such beauty. The twins could not accept their tragic demise, could not accept how pitiful they looked when they shriveled up into empty husks of what they once was. They were the great queen and king of Khanri'ah, who built their kingdom to absolute greatness, seeing them defeated was unfathomable ... until now. Their last moments were spent declaring war on each and every enemy and ally recklessly ruining everything they fought for. Reduced to their base instincts for power and salvation they brought more harm to the kingdom that they built with their very hands, to the children they raised as their very own. Their shriveled screams still echoes in the twins mind, the memory of their mother and father succumbing to hev'nx genesis will forever loop like the Inteyvats outside.
The twins saw their parents as an unstoppable force, rivaling the gods , flying with no bounds, their vision for something far greater in the cosmos ... everything they know about the outside world was from their parents, their absolute control over the laws, if they can't control the hev'nx genesis then how will the twins save their people from becoming like their king and queen.
The twins can't bring themselves to mourn for monsters that used be great, and glorious. can't bring themselves to mourn for humans that were limited by their feet on the ground and fetters on their necks. They were always destined for greatness till it was stripped from them. Not only their untimely demise but that they left this whole mess of a kingdom in the hands of their successors, Lumine and Aether. The bitterness of being suddenly responsible for the a whole Kingdom when they're only 2 decades old. The heir to the Kingdom that ever so tilts to its fall. The revered ones have turned their backs on their own homeland without giving any answers to the twins in how to salvage the damage...
An uncomfortable silence followed, if the twins can't mourn their loss of parents they might aswell pay respect for the king and queen they knew once.
Aether's mind was cloudy, his face contorted with conflicting thoughts battling in his head. Every time he peered on the casket he's reminded of his gentle mother and strict father, reminded of all the holidays they spent, reminded all that they've taught, reminded of all the promises that they said. He thought that his family were people he most trusted and felt understood, yet when he looks at the casket he's brutally reminded of their last breath, yet when he glances to his sister all he could see was a cold monster just like them. There's so much to do... finding a cure to hev'nx genesis , the wars, their fleeting numbers, it was chaos.
