— Regulus Black —
Returning to Hogwarts has come with a tsunami of emotions and a rainfall of memories, both from the hard hail stones of the bad and the soft snowflakes of good.
However, regardless of any memories, I have again found my silver lining, my original solace.
The majestic grand piano, its polished ebony surface reflecting the soft glow of candlelight that dances around the room. As you run your fingers across the keys, the room fills with the rich, resonant sound, transporting you to a world of intellectual exploration and artistic expression.
Each note breaking the floodgate of my escape.
Sitting before the piano, surrounded by vintage bookshelves and dusty tapestries, the sound of my fingers dancing across the keys begins to fill the air. A sense of home returning, a feeling I rarely feel away from Theodora these days.
It's almost like someone had just broken the dam that was withholding my emotions, with each tap of a key the power of my emotions surge through, creating beautiful harmonies that captivate the figures in the pictures. They watch over me from their canvases, each ear admiring the sound.
The sound I learnt to perfect as a reason to escape, a place to feel like myself.
I whisper to myself a hope that one day, I maybe able to help someone the way both the piano and Thea has improved mine. It feels as though my cage is unlocked each time I talk to her or begin to play.
As I exit the music room and turn the corner, golden flecks of hair catch my eye. Her hand quickly moving down the page. Her warm brown eyes entranced as she writes. A sense of passion has returned to her, like part of her is healing.
"Dora?" He asks.
"Reggie?" She murmurs as her eyes brighten.
Placing down the book she runs and hugs me, my arms instinctively wrap around her. This isn't like any hug we've previously shared, there's a difference, an unexplainable difference.
While a simple act, the warmth flowing between us is intoxicating. It's a comforting and reassuring gesture, conveying support, understanding, and a deep connection.
"Thank you" She whispers.
"Are you okay?" I reply quietly.
She pulls away and steps back.
"I spoke to Remus.." She smiles ever so slightly, "I finally didn't apologise Reg".
My hands cup her face, "I told you, it's not your fault".
Her eyes lock onto mine and for a split second I feel peace, a sense of belonging.
Then it all shatters.
It's as if a dam has burst, and a flood of feelings, thoughts, and memories come pouring out, overwhelming and unstoppable.
With that, I walk.
Each stone, blade of grass, twig, fallen leaf left behind as I continue to strive through. Searching for the only place I know where I can find comfort.
There it stands.
The branches reach towards the sky like outstretched arms, adorned with leaves that shimmer in the sunlight. Standing tall and proud, offering shade and shelter, almost inviting me to sit beneath its canopy and lose myself in the tranquility of nature. Its textured bark tells stories of time passed, while its empty branches swaying in the wind whisper secrets.
I slump against the tree closing my eyes and taking a moment to recount all that had happened.
I left her alone?
I'm an idiot!?
A complete idiot!!??
While I'm wallowing in my idiocy, time passes ever so quickly.
Looking over the tranquil lake, surrounded by the towering presence of majestic mountains. The surface reflects the dimming light of the setting sun, creating a mesmerizing play of shadows and hues. The air is crisp and cool, carrying with it the scent of earth and pine.
I gaze upon this ethereal scene, and I can't help but feel a sense of intellectual serenity, as if the beauty of nature is inspiring my mind to wander and contemplate.
An almost misty landscape with towering peaks shrouded in shadows. Possible ancient ruins nestled among the rugged terrain, their secrets waiting to be discovered. It's like stepping into a world where time stands still and nature's grandeur meets intellectual curiosity.
As the seconds chase the hours, the moon begins to reflect in the water. I look upon the sky and begin to notice andromeda, a beautiful constellation of stars... Thea's favourite.
The andromeda constellation has the nickname of the Chained Lady, because her parents chained her up and offered her as a sacrifice to appease the sea monster Cetus. This is a story Thea understands, a story she relates to and most of all cherishes.
Before I know it, I'm back at the same place I began... My utter idiocy.
Standing up my legs lead the way, before my mind can even catch up I'm charging ahead.
A man on a mission.
The sound of my footsteps reverberates against the marble floors as I pass by towering pillars and ornate archways. A soft glow of antique candles illuminate the path ahead, creating an atmosphere of purpose and resilience.
I reach the end of my meaning, the end of my march.
Stone steps, worn with history, lead higher and higher, as if reaching for the stars themselves. The air grows cooler, carrying the whispers of ancient astronomers and the scent of old books.
As my eyes travel up each step, the anticipation builds, knowing that at the top, a breathtaking view of the night sky awaits, and so does my peace.
I climb up the stairs, leaving pessimistic thoughts on each step as I travel higher. Battling away the possibilities that consume my mind, concluding if I don't do this now... I never will.
Placing my foot on the final step, I gaze up.
Emptiness.
My mind screwed me again.
