Broken Past

Theodora stands there frozen.

Regulus walking off, his own thoughts forcing him away.

She stares blankly, watching him walk away. A blow to the heart like no other.

Theodora is use to being left, she's been alone most of her life. However, Regulus was the one person she thought wouldn't leave her. She'd been alone so long and she finally let herself trust someone... And it all came crashing down.

The sturdy walls she had surrounded herself with, that she had lowered for Regulus to climb over and join her. Walls she had spent a lifetime building and then rebuilding after losing her mother and then Olivia.

A carefully created barrier that she no longer knows if she has the strength or ability to put up again.

She begins to wonder the castle, perhaps searching for some peace?

Eventually, she finds herself atop the Gryffindor tower staring off into the distance. Admiring the sight of the landscape, it's like nature's own masterpiece, a tranquil oasis nestled among the peaks. The crystal-clear waters reflecting the towering mountains create a breathtaking view, that fills Theodora with a sense of calmness.

Her mind finally becoming quiet, focusing in on one memory at hogwarts. One memory she's unsure if she will ever get over.

- August 1976 -

Olivia Loren, a Hufflepuff who wore her kindness and humour on her sleeve. She never failed to make the people around her laugh, perhaps that's why Theodora was so drawn to her.

In first year, in their first class, Theodora and Olivia were paired up. Theodora felt welcomed with open arms into Olivia's life. Memories racing through Theodora's mind, all putting a large smile on her face.

Theodora is sat next to Olivia's bedside in St. Mungos, holding her hand tightly as her chin rests on their locked hands.

"She'll be okay" James says, sat in the chair across from her.

A small tear dropped from Theodora's eye, she knew the truth.

Olivia was her dearest friend, a friend who knew everything about Theodora and loved her regardless. Their friendship was of highest value, she was the only person Theodora felt safe with.

At the end of fourth year, Theodora confided in Olivia about what will happen when she turns 16. Being the ever caring and loving individual she is, Olivia informed Theodora that she will stand by her best friend's side no matter what.

"Being a Maddox is a curse" Theodora remembers saying.

"You can be an honorary Loren" Olivia replied comforting her friend.

Thinking back to that moment, breaks Theodora's heart as she sees Olivia in a coma because of her.

When her father found out about her friendship with Olivia, whose parents were "blood traitors", he decided to go after both of her parents. Olivia, getting caught in the cross fire of an incorrectly produced curse, resulting in a comatose state.

Even though Theodora knew the truth, no one else did... Yet another secret she was keeping from James and her friends, and the one friend she would typically tell she was unable to.
