"Oh, thank you, Amy! Why didn't Patrick knock?" Angelina asked, her brow furrowing slightly as she took the envelope from the little girl’s outstretched hand.
"Maybe he was in a rush?" the innocent girl suggested with a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Aww, you sweet little thing," Angelina said, pinching her cheeks affectionately. "You're always so kind."
"I'm not always nice," Amy protested, rubbing her cheek where Angelina had pinched it, a pout forming on her lips.
"Is that so?" Angelina replied with a playful grin, raising an eyebrow in mock disbelief.
"Yes! I got upset with my stuffed animal, so I told him to sleep by the window because he was being mean to me," Amy huffed, crossing her arms defiantly, her little face scrunching up in indignation.
"Oh my!" Angelina feigned shock, placing a hand over her heart. "That sounds quite harsh! Poor little stuffed animal!"
"I know! But I only left him there for a minute before I let him back in bed with me. I didn't want him to catch a cold!" Amy explained, her expression softening as she recalled her act of mercy.
"See? You're just proving my point about being too nice," Angelina teased, her laughter bubbling up.
"Miss Angelina!" Amy whined, her eyes wide and pleading, as if she were trying to defend her honor.
"Alright, alright," the woman chuckled, shaking her head in amusement as Amy returned to her playtime with her stuffed animals, her little hands busy arranging them in a circle.
With a mix of excitement and dread, Angelina tore open the letter, her heart racing as she unfolded the crisp paper. The moment her eyes scanned the words, a chill ran down her spine, and she instantly regretted her decision to read it.
- Let's meet.
I want what's mine...The words echoed ominously in her mind, sending a wave of anxiety crashing over her. She glanced at Amy, who was blissfully unaware of the storm brewing just outside their cozy little world. The innocence of the moment felt like a fragile bubble, one that could burst at any moment.
Taking a deep breath, Angelina tried to steady her racing heart. She knew she had to keep her composure for Amy's sake. "Just a letter," she whispered to herself, forcing a smile as she tore the letter and threw it into the bin.
It's just a letter but my body is shaking in fear like his actually in front of me
