Ever since she had been dropped into an unfamiliar world she knew nothing about, she was alone. She tried connecting with the others, but it was useless. Only Kaufmo and Kinger would ever talk to her. But that was it. Ragatha was lonely. Scared. Alone.
Then Jax came along.
He, too, was scared. He reminded her of herself when she had first come here. So she comforted him to the best of her ability. It was hard, though. He was cold. His demeanor was aggressive. He never cooperated with her. Then came the others, then finally, Pomni. That was also when Kaufmo abstracted. She finally began to build connections with the others. All except for Jax. He was too stubborn, too rude for her to get to. That was until he had accidentally drove her to tears. He thought he was playing a harmless prank on her, dangling a centipede in her face and backing her into a corner. But she covered her mouth and began to sob. He saw the tears falling from her eyes, and moved the centipede away from her face. He threw it away. His ears drooped as he hugged her, begging her for forgiveness. From that point onward, he toned down his pranks on her. Little did he know this decision brought them closer together. They became eachothers support. They stuck with each other through high and low, through any obstacles that came their way. So naturally, it happened. Jax began to like Ragatha. Just a week later, Ragatha began to share his feelings.
But they could never quite tell each other. In fact, they never did. They both knew something was there. Something they couldn't explain, but the feeling all too familiar.
That was the story of the Rabbit and the Ragdoll. Two humans trapped in a digital landscape, falling in love. But could they ever be together? Yes and no. Yes, because their ringmaster and captor, Caine, seemingly doesn't oppose such a relationship. No, because it seems they'll never tell each other. They'd be doomed to an endless cycle of loving without being able to express it.
-Present day-
"I-It's not what it looks like!"
"You guys really couldn't have waited until we were at least in our own rooms?"
"It's n-not like that!"
Ragatha stuttered through her words desperately, hoping to clear up the confusion. Jax laid there, waiting for Ragatha to get off.
"So, are you guys.. like.. together?"
Asked Gangle.
"I-"
"No. She just came to me after the movie cause she was scared. Problem?"
Responded Jax.
"..No."
"Good."
"But she's literally on top of you. There's no way you guys aren't dating."
Said Zooble.
"Like I said, she was scared."
As the two went back and forth, Pomni glanced at Ragatha, who was riddled with embarrassment. Ragatha clearly hadn't intended to be caught.
After a while, Caine appeared.
"I hope you enjoyed that adventure, my dears! Because now, it's time for breakfast!"
With a snap of his fingers, the miniature tent is gone, they're back in their normal clothes, and a table with their breakfast and chairs appears before them.
"Look, we'll talk about this some other time. I'm hungry."
"But we don't even need to eat."
"So? I can still be hungry."
Jax got up, pulling Ragatha up as he did. They all ate breakfast as usual.
-Some time later-
Jax was loading a spring and boxing glove into a box as Ragatha walled into his room.
"Hey, Jax?"
"Yeah, dolly?"
"I, uhm.. just wanted to thank you. For earlier."
Jax, still trying to get the box ready, responded.
"No problem, doll face. I do expect some payment, though."
"Alrig- wait, what?"
He chuckled.
"You're so easy to trick, Raggs."
"Am not!"
"Really? Oh well. Your dress stained, by the way."
Ragatha let out a gasp and looked at her dress.
"No no no! Now I have to- wait."
Jax burst out laughing.
"Jax! Not funny!"
"Of course it was, dolly, you just don't appreciate my sense of humor."
Ragatha pouted and crossed her arms, facing away from Jax.
"Aw cmon dolly, don't do that."
"Hmph."
"Dollyyyyy."
"Hmph."
"Pleaasee, dolly?"
"Hmph."
Jax smiled, hugging her from behind and nuzzling her head.
"I'm sorry, dolly. Can you forgive me?"
Ragatha stood there, arms crossed for a few seconds, then caved in.
"You're forgiven, Jax."
"That's good to hear, dolly"
Jax said. Yet he continued to hold Ragatha in his embrace.
"Uhm.. J-Jax?"
"Yes, Raggs?"
"W-When are you gonna.. uhm.. let go..?"
"I don't know, I'm pretty comfortable right here, dolly."
"H-Huh?"
Jax released Ragatha, who was now bright red.
"I'm just messing with ya, dolly."
He turned around and resumed his work with the box and glove. Ragatha stood there, thinking about what had happened. Was she embarrassed? Most definitely. But did she want him to let go? Definitely not. So, she came up behind him and hugged him as he had hugged her.
"You good, dolly?"
"Mhm."
She responded as she buried her face into his back. Jax continued to try and push the glove and spring into the box, but was now distracted. It was hard to focus when your whole body was filled with butterflies, after all. Eventually, he gave up on the box, shifted around, and hugged Ragatha back. They held each other like that until it was time for lunch. The two, of course, walked to lunch together. They always stuck together.
-Some time later-
Jax laid on Ragatha once again. He rested his head on her chest, and wrapped himself around her, like he would when he comforted her. But this was different. Ragatha hadn't been worn out. She wasn't tired. Wasn't in need of comfort. Yet they laid there, holding each other in Ragatha's bed. It wasn't for comfort. It was desire. Something they both knew was there, but just couldn't explain. They knew it was there for a while. It was getting it out that was the problem. But for now, they wouldn't focus on that. They'd focus on enjoying each other's company.
