6 - Boo! (Chapter 2)

"I can't believe I let you do this."

"Oh cmon, you'll love it!"

"Yeah, we'll see about that."

Jax sat on his bed, Ragatha just behind him tying ribbons on his ears. Not the ideal way to wake up, but not the worst way he could've. She had been bugging him non-stop about it, and who could say no to Ragatha? Well, he tried, to no avail.

"Are you done yet? My ears are starting to itch."

"Be patient, will you? I'm almost done."

"You said that 7 minutes ago."

"Well I'm almost done now."

He rolled his eyes, yet couldn't help but smile at her antics.

"And.. done!"

The ragdoll hopped off of Jax's bed, rushing to her room and returning with a hand held mirror.

"Here, you look amazing!"

She said, handing Jax the mirror. He took it, and got a good look at himself before setting it down.

"Bow ties? Way to stand out, dolly."

"Tsk. Cmon, it looks good on you!"

The rabbit rolled his eyes. For someone he perceived as innocent, she could be really annoying when she wanted to be.

Days turned into months, and soon enough, October rolled around. Which meant..

Ragatha slowly stirred from her sleep, gently pushing herself off of the mattress. She swung her legs over the bed, yawning as she stood up. Ragatha went through her usual routine, putting on a clean blue dress and putting on a blue bow before leaving her room. As per usual, she knocked on Jax's door, waiting for the rabbit to come out before they walked to the dining table for breakfast.

The halls, as they noticed, were decorated to the brim with Halloween-themed decorations, the generic ghost or skeleton littering the hallway. The pair eventually arrived at the dining table. Ragatha sat beside Pomni as always, while Jax sat beside Kinger. Breakfast went by as normal as it could've, the circus members all dispersing after finishing their meals to attend to their own business.

Jax laid on top of Ragatha once more. The ragdoll had stressed herself out once again.

"Raggs."

"..."

"Raggy."

"..."

"Dolly."

Each word was met with silence from Ragatha. She was especially tired then. The rabbit shifted slightly upward, moving his head to rest in the crook of her neck as his arms moved under Ragatha to hold her in an embrace. It was only minutes after this position change that Ragatha made any sort of move, moving her once tense and stiff hands to gently pet Jax's head. Jax fought back the urge to flinch from her touch. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy her touch; he welcomed it with open arms. Jax was simply.. unfamiliar with the nature of it.

It took a while, but finally, it seemed as though Ragatha had calmed down. Jax propped himself up on his forearms, hovering just above Ragatha. Just as Jax was about to speak, however, Ragatha pulled him back down and resumed her petting. That was.. new, to say the least. The rabbit didn't make another attempt to get up, simply figuring that she hadn't fully recovered yet. Not that he was complaining.

Halloween had come around quickly. When your concept of time was completely shattered, it was easy for days to pass seemingly quickly.
