No matter how much she tried to shake the feeling that she was overreacting,Yoona couldn't help but feel there was something going on with JongSuk, it had been three days since he had been in school and she didn't know why, but she didn't believe the story about him being sick, it wasn't the first time he had been absent for periods of times. She also noticed no matter the weather he always wore the winter uniform, even if it was 37 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit)and the classroom was boiling .
Yoona wasn't expecting JongSuk to be in school today, so she was pleasantly surprised when she saw him at his desk, head in his arms. She walked over to his desk, noticing the slurs and curse words scribbled on top of the desk , most of them saying stuff like
Die!
Worthless
Kill yourself
Whore's child
Yoona clenched her fist, she looked around the room wondering who would stoop so low, it couldn't just be MinHyuk and his friends. She opened her bag and pulled out the extra sandwich Ahjumma had made that morning.
She tapped his arm, waiting until he looked up, "Have you eaten?" She asked , without waiting for an answer she placed the sandwich in front of him, "I was thinking we could go to the library after school to start on our project, or do you need to go home?"
"I think, I can go." JongSuk replied softly, he knew Eomma had an earlier shift then normal at the bar tonight, if he could get home before five he probably wouldn't be punished though there was no guarantee.
"Ok after school, then " Yoona said as the bell rang. JongSuk watched her head back over to her friends . JongSuk didn't know why most of his classmates seemed to have perfect lives or just better lives than him, they had families who cared about them, not a mother who wished they had never been born. More than once Eomma had complained that she should have abandoned JongSuk, sometimes JongSuk half wished she had abandoned him , having a mother who abandoned him was probably better than having one who was abusive and neglectful to the point where she didn't even care when he was sick . There had been times when he had been so sick he could barely get out of bed. He had learned early on, that there was no one who really cared about him. So when Yoona had come over the other day and asked if he was okay he had almost told her everything because no one had ever asked, but he knew even if he told her there was nothing she could do. Eomma was good at manipulating people's emotions, by the time she was done talking to the police she had painted him to look like an ungrateful child who was a chronological liar who just wanted attention. The police would tell him that he should try to be a good kid because his mother was raising him on her own and it wasn't easy being a single mother. So he stopped telling people about his situation. When he was younger he had thought it would get better when he got older, but it hadn't, he had two years before he was legally an adult. He didn't know if he was going to last two years.
