Sofia was the one who informed the pack about Iya's disappearance. She was thoroughly questioned by the royal beta, writhing her of every information she could give, much to the intrigue of the pack. Why does the alpha king want Iya that much? They question.
The royal guards hardly saw Iya's face and requested the royal beta for a picture of the girl to aide in their search. Ettore and Stella were informed and was told to bring the picture at Alpha Mateo's office where King Pietro waited as well.
"King Pietro, here is the picture of Iya." He handed the photograph. Pietro needed to change into his wolf to see.
"Is this some kind of joke?" The king's wolf glared at them as beta Rene relays the king's mind linked messages.
"I do not understand. Didn't you request for this picture?" Alpha Mateo asked in confusion.
"I did! But what is this? Who the hell is this? This is not the human! Stop wasting my time! The human is strikingly beautiful!"
"This IS Iya, my king!" Mateo insisted. He could not believe the king sees Iya as beautiful. She is plain and forgettable. It could only mean that his wolf has a different perception of beauty, he concluded.
Ettore and Stella started to get anxious. Their secret is about to be revealed.
"Ettore, Stella, please tell the alpha king that this is your daughter, Iya." Mateo requested.
"My king, t-this is I-iya....," Ettore's voice shook.
The king's wolf growled!
"If you say this is not our daughter in this picture, my king, how does she look then?" Stella tested.
"She has long wavy hair, fair skin, chestnut eyes and the most beautiful lips I have ever seen. She is slim. She is about as tall as Alpha Mateo's daughter. She has a mole on her right earlobe."
Alpha Mateo gasps in surprise. Iya indeed has a mole on her right earlobe, however, she is not strikingly beautiful as the king claimed.
Pietro changed back to human form. "I will speak with Iya's parents alone." He declared and the others hurriedly left the office.
"Is there something you wish to tell me?" Pietro asked Ettore and Stella.
"She is your mate, isn't she, my king?" Stella asked with a tinge of accusation.
"That is absurd!" He denied.
"If you would not accept her as your true mate, please reject her as soon as possible. It is imperative that you do, my king, or else her life will be in grave danger!" She retorted.
"What do you mean woman? Tell me everything there is!" Pietro impatiently asked.
"Iya is no ordinary human. Your wolf is right, the girl in the picture is not Iya's real face. It was the face I concocted through a spell to hide her true identity. Since she turned three, her beauty is already showing, Ettore and I had no choice but to cast a spell to give her a plain face. It was her deceased mother's request. You see we are not Iya's biological parents." Stella revealed.
"Why the need to hide her real face," Pietro quipped.
"If her face is revealed early on, her disgusting stepfather will easily find her, and surely abduct, groom, and force her to be his bride when she comes of age. Iya's real mother gave her very life to keep Iya away from that man. On Iya's baby basket, she left a comprehensive and strict command on how to rear Iya. She made sure a witch will find her baby. All the spell I needed was there in that letter." Stella continued. "She also said that the spell will no longer work when Iya's mate appears because it won't be necessary as her protector has come forth. You are her mate, King Pietro, that is why you can see the real Iya."
"You mentioned Iya is no ordinary human. What is she then?"
Ettore stepped forward, "she is partly human, witch, and fae".
"A tri-breed." Pietro digested the information. "Is Iya aware of all these?"
"No." Ettore and Stella said in chorus.
"Who is her stepfather? I will kill him this very day!" Pietro boasted.
"Oh my king, to kill Iya's stepfather will mean an act of war."
Pietro got curious. Who is this man?
"Who," he growled!
"The witch king, Malachi!" Stella revealed.
Pietro's wolf stirred and got furious. King Malachi stayed out of his way for years, however, he never liked the man. There was something sinister about him. Could this be it? He never liked the man because he has been after his mate since her birth? And then it dawned on Pietro, that one important piece of the puzzle as they say.
"Is Iya the daughter of the legendary enchantress Versaya, the witch queen?" He had to ask.
"Yes, she is. So you see, my king, Iya has the blood of a witch queen, a fae grandfather, a brave human-father, and the blessing of the moon goddess herself as evident of her red mole on her earlobe. King Malachi knew, she would wield such great power someday. He craves that power but most of all he lusted for Versaya's beauty for so long, and now he could have his chance with her daughter. He intends to spawn the mightiest creatures with her. Iya's mother cannot allow any of these to happen. She gave up her all her powers to bargain to the moon goddess to give Iya a deserving mate who could cherish and protect her, a werewolf preferably," Stella tearfully said.
"If you make Iya the luna queen, the witch king will think thrice before he comes near Iya. King Malachi will not risk open war against the werewolves especially if his queen has fae blood and powers too." Ettore added.
"To be my luna queen means Iya must first prove that she deserves the position. The royal pack cannot have a weak link. As I see Iya, she is oblivious to her powers. She is not even confident as a human. In order for me to accept her, she must work for it!" Pietro insisted.
"How can you say these things to your true mate, my king? Do you not feel the mate bond? How can you openly say you may or may not accept her?" Ettore could not understand the king.
"No matter, what is important right now, is that we find Iya as soon as possible! Once found, she will stay in the palace and from there we will see." Pietro ended any discussion and exited the the room leaving a wearisome pair.
