After pie, as promised, the four of you set off to this "Core". You didn't understand what a Core was. Sans tried to explain even without the science stuff, but you couldn't grasp the concept. The only thing you could understand was, the Core was the Underground's only power supply. The blizzard you succumbed to earlier was now gone but not for long. Papyrus had noted aloud that the absence of life caused everything to change. You wonder what he meant by that.
You all walk until you came to a waterfall. Azzy said this place was called Waterfall and went to the side, walking off path. The skeleton brothers stopped and waited for the goat teen. Sans started to slump and his head fell. You took a peek at his face and... HE WAS ASLEEP!?
How could he be sleeping at the moment?! You stood next to the short skeleton. You glance at him and get a better look at his appearance. He looked to be the same height as you. You were around 5"6 tall. He might have been a few inches taller than you, but not by much. He had a round chubby skull. His dark green jacket looked thick and heavy.
Papyrus on the other hand, looked at least a whole foot taller. His skull was a rectangle shape. Papyrus didn't have a constant smile unlike Sans. He had an orange sweatshirt rather than a jacket, and wore a deep red scarf that looked to be thin.
You heard Azzy come back and turned to him. He was carrying four flowers. "Alright! Lets go!" You turned to shake Sans awake, but he was already following Azzy. HOW-.... You blink away the thought and quickly follow. Azzy crouched down and put the flowers in the water. They slid across the water to form a line. The flowers opened, and the boys walked across. Everything is weird in this part of the world, so you decide not to question and trust the process!
You went to step onto the cyan grass when the flower gave out. You plummet into the dark blue void while the bright color of the surface faded. You tried to swim, but it was so cold. You couldn't move anything. It had been warm above water, and made the icy feeling surprising.
Your lungs started to burn as you ran out of breath. You couldn't hold your breath any longer. You open your mouth and watched as bubbles of air escape from you. A sudden feeling of helplessness and fear washed over you. You couldn't keep your eyes open, and they shut closed by themselves.
You suddenly felt a tug on your chest as a (S/C) reached your eyes. You could hear desperate calls from the boys. As you resurfaced, you coughed up water and gasped. Your eyes wouldn't open as you felt your slow decent. You landed and felt boney hands grab you and hold you close. The hands shook, and you faintly hear his concern for you. He shook you gently again as you try to breath. Sans sighed with relief. "That was close. Ya know (Y/N)?" You nodded as he helped you sit up. You thanked him and stood up.
"Well, I guess it would be safer to tell you now." Azzy sighed as well and took off his solid pastel green sweatshirt. He gave it to you. You accept and put it on. Sans had draped his jacket on your shoulders. You thank them both and followed them to the next area.
Papyrus and Azzy began to explain the condition of the Underground and how it worked. "You obviously know that the barrier broke at some point right?" You nod silently. "Well after that, the barrier came back. And believe it or not, Sans doesn't even know why. The Underground got used to the constant presence of magic. Monsters... are different than humans. We are completely made out of magic. The only reason we're here right now is because of magic. When the monsters left, the Underground had withdrawal problems."
A boulder fell from the ceiling into the water, and you stop to observe. "Such as that..." Sans remarked sarcastically. "Exactly Sans, Like That. That's Starting To Become Problematic Though." Papyrus added as the four of you continued. You shiver and continue with the boys.
Timeskip~
"We should stop here for now." Azzy came to a stop and crouched to the ground. You felt so relieved and sat next to him on a rock. He held out his hand close to the ground. You watch curiously as his hand began to glow an orange hue. A small fireball formed in the goat's hand. He touched the cyan grass, and it burst into flames.
The fire died down to a normal size and had a pleasantly warm feeling. You smile subconsciously as the others sat next to you. "We didn't bring food, but there is some at the old lab in Hotlands. Sorry, but we have to wait till tomorrow." You smiled and pulled Sans jacket tighter around you. This felt nice.
You couldn't remember much, but you remember going to a camp with a friend of yours. You couldn't remember why, but you weren't close with your family. You don't even remember talking to them often. This felt like what a family should feel like. They're supposed to protect you, save you, and comfort you. Those are the only things you've gotten sense you've met these monsters. You didn't EVER want to loose this feeling again.
Timeskip- Next Morning~
When you woke up, the boys were talking quietly amongst themselves. It was peaceful in Waterfall. The water always dripped at a steady, constant rate. The water, when you put everything together, it sounded like a melody. It lulled you to sleep last night actually. You almost never slept well in newer places. You watched as the bright cyan water rusted past you and fell once again. A sudden thud rang through the hollow cave followed by a sickening cracking and crashing. You turn to the boys who spun in different directions in fear. "(Y/N), we need to leave. That was awfully close." Azzy had stated with panic.
A rock above the four of you cracked, and out of fear, you all started running. The boulder came down, and caused a chain reaction. More boulders and rocks started to fall, and you tripped a few times, but you couldn't loose them. You couldn't die here. You had just started your journey. You had to keep going.
You are filled with DETERMINATION...
A rock fell in front of you. You jumped over. Your throat became dry and cold which made it burn. You all came upon a bridge, UT it was the only way to go. You couldn't avoid it, and there was no safe spot to wait. The bridge held and you crossed. You twirl around to look at your companions and watch as they crossed. Sans... Papyrus... Asri-
A boulder fell just as Azzy reached the end. The bridge collapsed, and everything seemed to happen in slow motion. You lunged first to grab your friends hand. To your surprise and relief, you caught him and wasted no time pulling him up. Sans joined you, and Papyrus grabbed the both of you to drag. Azzy came up with his hair standing and panting. His eyes looked like pinpricks as as he knelt holding his chest.
"That Was Too Close!" Papyrus yelped as he tackled Azzy in a hug. "Don't ever scare us like that again buddy..." Sans plopped down with a sigh, and you went to hug Azzy. You began to cry. You couldn't loose your friend... Not when you just made that friend... "Hey (Y/N) its okay. I'm alright thanks to you guys." You nod quietly while sniffling a bit.
A/N: Sorry it took me a while to put this out, but here it is! I hope everyone is having a good day. If not
