What's Determination?

Chapter 7 - True Lab~

After the incident in Waterfall, nothing particularly exciting happened. You reached Hotland within a few minutes. As the four of you got closer, you could feel the heat from the area. The lava below made a soft orange glow radiate through the cavern. You stopped suddenly to take in the beauty. The orange glow reached the caverns roof and reflected off the rocks. You couldn't get to see the glowing rocks in Waterfall, but these would have to do. They were still pretty for all you cared.

The boys stopped in front of a large door with the word 'LAB' in red letters resting on the frame. "We gatta make a quick stop before we get ta the Core. You smiled and for the first time, you answered. " Okay!"

You all enter the lab and went to the Royal Scientist old lab. "Ya know, I just wanted ta know if anyone else just gatta Deja Vu?" Papyrus brightened, if that was even possible for the skeleton. 

"You Must Be Talking About Alphys And Undyne's Wedding! Of Course! I got That Same Feeling! The Only Thing That's Missing Is... Vex." Everyone went quiet after that. A dark shadow came to everyone's face. You were curious, but everyone always says curiosity killed a cat. "But DETERMINATION brought it back..." You heard in the back of your head. 

"Who's Vex?" You asked quietly hardly above a whisper. Papyrus briefly turned to glance at you as he began to answer, almost as if you startled him. "Vex Is A.... Was A Friend Of Ours. She Fell Down Here In Waterfall. Asgore Found Her Though And Took Her In." Sans glared at his brother. " Until he took her soul..." You could faintly see a flash of cyan and yellow from his left eye. It made you wince terribly. Asriel stopped and turned on his heel. 

"Enough! Vex wanted this. She wanted the Underground to be happy. She even said that.  blame Asgore for Vex's decisions." Sans snapped his head to Asriel and replied with a nasty tone. "Oh right! Ya just forgot that that goat we call King didn't hesitate when she gave her soul ta him! Don't tell me he did, because we all know he didn't." The two boys had a stare down show as Papyrus and you watched. Sans had tears rolling down his cheekbones with a shocked face of realization. Azzy had a face of hurt and pity. Sans eye went back to his normal as he brought up his hand to wipe his tears.

"Sorry Azzy. I didn't mean ta yell. I just miss her..." Papyrus went to hug Sans gently. You felt a huge pang in your chest. They must.miss her a lot... And why did Asgore take her soul? What do they mean when they said she 'wanted this'? What happened down here. "Why don't we get going? The Core isn't going to fix itself!" It was weird how they got over it so quickly. However, two things need to be considered. One: they were boys, and Two: they did have a job to do. 

You reached some kind of big keyboard. Sans began typing and weird pictures popped onto the screen. It looked familiar, but you couldn't put your finger on it... 

Papyrus handed you a bag of potato chips. You gratefully accepted with a smile and thank you. As the boys watched the screen and talked amongst themselves, you felt another sudden urge to explore the abandoned lab. So what did you so? Of course you had to explore! Your soul begged you to explore the abandoned lab. 

You wandered off to a hallway and found the only thing that wasn't a wall. An elevator that still worked. You stood in the elevator and pressed the only button on the panel. You began the decent further into the lab. A strange feeling crawled up your spine. It tickled and iched. The feeling was uncomfortable.

The elevator suddenly stopped, but the door didn't open. You waited a few moments, only to be rewarded with an elevator drop at a high speed. You gripped the walls to the best of your ability. The elevator came to a final stop with a crash. Thankfully you felt fine. The doors opened, and you felt an urge to cry. You could see how thick the air was, and the smell of the place was stale. Not in a bad way,  ut you could aslo smell something that resembled burning plastic and dust. But thats not what made you want to cry. You felt heavy pain and sadness tug at your shoulders.
