Alice sat in her room, a nail polish bottle next to her. She kept her eyes trained on the TV as she twisted off the brush from the bottle. She was always an Audrey Hepburn fan, so when she saw that 'Roman Holiday' was on the TV tonight she couldn't help but watch. Especially after another flight, she needed to take her mind away from all the work. That didn't stop her from finishing some more paperwork 5 minutes ago.

The deep red colour covered her nails as the movie continued, already around half an hour into the film. She reached over to grab her glass of wine, already feeling it swim around her stomach.

From the next room, John laid with his head resting on his hands. He could hear the silent sound of people talking and Alice's recognisable giggles. He smiled to himself, not even realising when his legs started to carry him to her hotel room door.

He didn't even think of backing out when he brought his knuckles up to her door.

Alice jumped slightly when she heard a knock at the door, wondering who would be looking for her at this time.

"John? Are you alright?" She asked, curious as to why he was there.

"Just wondering what you were watching, could hear it through these paper-thin walls." He laughed slightly, entering her room when she stood to the side.

John's eyes went straight to her suitcase, where all the clothes were pulled out and covered the floor.

"Uh, you can sit down if you want, y'know make yourself at home." She smiled, sitting on the bed and signalling for him to join her.

She swung her legs up to lie down, her eyes not leaving the screen. John did the same, recognising Audrey but not the film.

"Which movie is this then?"

"Roman holiday. Would you like a glass?" She nodded towards her bottle of red wine, gifted to her by George. The pair loved talking about wine, it was an odd yet common interest that neither shared with anyone else. George had told her about this certain brand, and he insisted that she should try it.

"Yeah, ta." He replied, taking the glass from her and looking at the screen.

"So, what's happening now?" John asked, slightly confused. He embarrassingly hadn't paid much attention to the film.

"I explained this 5 minutes ago! Can you not see what happened?" She giggled at him, unknowingly inching closer to him. Their hands were slightly touching, it felt silly to both of them. Why couldn't they just hold hands? It didn't mean anything, they were just friends after all.
