For months on end, the Meme Team tried to research what Jormungandr was. Somehow, they managed to get a decent amount of information, but none of it was particularly useful, aside from the bare minimum. The group was a rival weapons manufacturer to Wexler, specifically for heroes concentrated in the San Francisco and Silicon Valley areas. Still, what didn't add up was the fact that the company went under in 2016, four years before Wexler. Why were they resurfacing now?
The group spent the summer trying to dig up what the company was up to, to no avail. All that was coming up were articles from years ago on "Jormungandr CEO Declares Bankruptcy" or information on the Norse mythological snake of the same name. Edwin even went so far as to call the number on their now-defunct website and ask to take an internship there. Of course, the call was sent to an automated message saying that the number was no longer in use. By the end of the summer vacation, hardly any dents had been made in the group's investigation. At least, in terms of online research.
Still, even when swamped with hero internships, jobs, and Izuku learning how to drive, the teens managed to have a good summer. Izuku spiced up his look a bit, still adhering to the basic jeans and t-shirt blueprint. Still, he started collecting flannel jackets and pins to attach. He also allowed Vivienne to dye half of his hair black and the rest a lighter green, which he said was inspired by a friend's look. To the delight of Edwin, Izuku finally agreed to get a stick-and-poke tattoo. Per request, it was on an easily hidden spot, that being his upper arm. The tattoo in question was UA's motto "Plus Ultra!". That way, even though he was hundreds of miles away, he could still feel like All Might was guiding him.
In terms of his friends, Edwin finally got his braces off and now showed off a straight smile, Athena got into manicures and knitting her own turtlenecks, Vivienne got promoted to manager at the thrift store, Charlie... didn't change much, ironically, and Andreas got a bit less abrasive. Not by much, though.
On the first day of junior year at Oceanside, the class was hit with a bombshell announcement.
"Alright, everyone, I know we're all excited to be back," Dr. Howard, Athena and Izuku's advisor said, hushing her excited bunch of juniors."As you know, Oceanside is part of the International Student Hero Exchange, ISHE for short. Last year, we had students from the Innsbruck School for Heroics in Austria."
The advisory started muttering.
"Good times."
"I still miss Katya."
"Who is it this year, ma'am?"
Dr. Howard hushed the class. "This year, we will be recieving twenty second-year students from UA High School in Japan."
Izuku's eyes were as wide as dinner plates.
"Wait, UA? You went there, Izuku! You've gotta know people there!" Athena said excitedly.
"I- I do! I just wasn't expecting this to come so quickly!" Izuku fretted. "What if I'm chosen for the host family? I like my friends and all, but my house probably isn't big enough for another teenager. And plus, I don't know how much my friends have changed in person, so I have no way of knowing if Kacchan has cooled down or if his-"
"Zuke. You're spiralling again. Breathe," Athena said, putting her hands on his shoulders. He did as was told and took a few deep breaths. "It'll be fine, Izuku. You've been keeping in touch with your friends. As long as you're not hosting that Kacchan guy, you should be fine!"
Izuku took another breath. "You're right. I just need to think positive."
"That's the spirit!"
Two weeks later, the students of Class 2-A had arrived. Of course, being student ambassadors (and good ones to boot), the Meme Team was called to the main atrium to give the class a tour.
