Note: This picks up somewhere around Season 5, and Crisis on Infinite Earths never happened.

Brainy was multitasking at the DEO as usual-systematizing dated files, designing microscopic uniforms for all of the Super Friends, composing an epic poem, and tracking a potentially extranormal threat. Suddenly, his mind went blank and his core processor switched from active engagement to import mode. The information plunged through his cranium and down his spine, exploding throughout his nervous system. The surge was so powerful and abrupt that it knocked him off his chair.

When Brainy rebooted 90 seconds later, he opened his eyes to see Alex and other DEO agents hovering over him.

"Brainy, are you okay? How many fingers am I holding up?" Alex held up three fingers.

"Oh, sprock."

Brainy waved Alex's hand away. He abruptly stood and pressed the button on his watch once, calling upon Supergirl.

Alex demanded answers. "Brainy, tell me what's going on-now please."

"No time to explain. We need Supergirl here immediately."

Less than a minute later, the ground shook, alerting everyone of Supergirl's arrival as her feet landed powerfully onto the ground.

"What's so urgent? Is everyone okay?" Kara said, walking over to Brainy and Alex, red cape trailing behind her.

"That's what I'd like to know," Alex added.

Kara placed her arms akimbo, and both Danvers sisters regarded the concerned Brainy.

"It's Earth-88. Supergirl and Superman... they're in trouble there. And if they die on this Earth at this specific time, the consequences would be cataclysmic. It would affect all universes and dimensions, and potentially wipe out aspects of our reality. The person who has entrapped them is from another multiverse entirely, and they plan to kill your alternate selves by causing a domino effect sun exploding event, resulting in multiple event horizons and blackholes that will eventually conjoin and make a supermassive mega black hole which would surely spell doom for us all."

"A supermassive mega black hole? Sounds like a Muse song," Kara joked weakly in a feeble attempt to take the pressure off of herself.

"What would be the impact here? What aspects of reality would we lose?" Alex asked, not playing into Kara's lighthearted response. She was never good at hiding her own concern, especially when it involved people she loved.

"That impact would be too massive to compute. My brain cannot handle it. But to give you an idea, it may create a situation where one or both of you never existed. Or maybe Koala bears. They might simply cease to exist."

Kara's eyes widened at the realization of the impact. "Oh no, not the Koalas! I love Koalas. They're so cute. Okay, we've got to handle this."

Alex was still skeptical, but mostly she was worried about what could happen to her sister on this Earth-88. "And why, exactly, is Kara, my Kara, the one to stop it. Why not Kara from, say, Earth-24 or something?"

"Because," Brainy said, "the odds of other Supergirls winning is lower compared to yours. You, Kara, averaged an 82 percent chance of prevailing, while the others were much lower."

"Wait, that's still an 18 percent chance we could lose her too. I don't like those odds," Alex protested.

Kara turned to her sister and placed her hands on her shoulders. "I got this. I'll be okay. I love you."

"No, I'm coming with you," Alex demanded. She was stubborn as ever to stand by her sister's side. That is until Brainiac interjected.

"Actually, your presence would lower Supergirl's chances of succeeding by 26 percent."
